Match Summary

3 It's a long shot, but…

Wales picked up some memorable results under Chris Coleman, notably beating Belgium in qualifying for Euro 2016. The Dragons kept the likes of Eden Hazard, Kevin de Bruyne and Dries Mertens at bay, and a similar shift from all involved will be needed here. A Wales 1-0 success is 33/2.

One to Watch: Marcos Alonso

The former Bolton and Sunderland defender has finally broken into the national set-up after two superb seasons at club level with Chelsea. The Madrid native has developed a reputation as one of the best full-backs in the Premier League, notably for his work going forward, and is a regular source of assists and goals for the Blues. Alonso can often be found in the opposition’s six-yard box and could make the left-back position his own for Spain as Enrique continues to overlook Jordi Alba. Alonso is 6/1 to score anytime and get his first goal for the 2010 World Cup winners.

This international friendly preview opens with Ryan Giggs’ Wales. The Manchester United legend is sweating on the fitness of star man Gareth Bale after the attacker was replaced in the closing stages during Real Madrid’s 1-0 defeat to Alaves.

Wales’ all-time top scorer will want to play but is likely to be rested, with the Nations League contest against Republic of Ireland a priority. Arsenal man Aaron Ramsey is expected to start as the most advanced midfielder, with Derby duo Harry Wilson and Tom Lawrence on either flank.

There are some familiar faces in the Spain squad, with Premier League personnel David de Gea, Cesar Azpilicueta and Alvaro Morata called up to Luis Enrique’s squad.

Former Chelsea striker Diego Costa misses out, but Borussia Dortmund’s Paco Alcacer is rewarded for his brilliant early form. Alcacer has struck seven goals in all competitions and should lead the line alongside two from Marco Asensio, Suso and Rodrigo Moreno.

Wales vs Spain Football Betting Tips, Preview & Predictions

Will Wales shock Spain, even without Bale on the field?

Wales boss Ryan Giggs has started brightly in his country’s hot-seat following his maiden managerial appointment in January. The 44-year-old has overseen comfortable victories over China and Republic of Ireland, while his side also gave good accounts of themselves against Uruguay and Mexico.

The visit of Spain promises to be the biggest challenge of Giggs’ fledgling career to date and the experience will also benefit his young guns who have recently been introduced in to the fold. La Roja, on the other hand, look back to their best after the debacle of Russia. Luis Enrique’s men went into the tournament as one of two or three clear favourites but were humbled, crashing out at the last-16 stage after barely making it out of Group B. Under new boss Enrique, Spain have trounced World Cup finalists Croatia by 6-0 and beaten semi-finalists England 2-1 at Wembley, and the ex-Barcelona Coach will surely expect more of the same on Thursday.

International friendly predictions for this game highlight Wales at 11/2 to pick up an impressive win. The Dragons always have a powerful backing on home soil, with predecessor Coleman regularly crediting the supporters for their passion, and they’ll need more of the same against Enrique’s star-studded cast. Wales have a solid group of players in the ranks but will struggle without the stardust of talisman Bale.

Further international friendly predictions show Spain at 1/2 to triumph over 90 minutes. La Roja are scoring at will and have benefitted from Enrique freshening up the squad with new faces. Expect the visitors’ class to tell against a defence essentially made up of Championship players.

The stalemate is 16/5 in the latest football betting predictions market and would rely on Wales frustrating Spain for large periods of the encounter.

Sam Vokes is 11/1 to open the scoring in this international friendly, and the Burnley striker should get the nod in Bale’s likely absence. Meanwhile, Bournemouth talent David Brooks is 11/2 in the anytime market and is attracting plenty of attention. The 21-year-old has started the domestic campaign excellently, bagging in two of his six appearances for the Cherries, and he’ll get a well-earned run-out during the 90.

Paco Alcacer is the 5/4 favourite to strike first. The Barcelona loanee is currently the Bundesliga’s top goalscorer and will fancy his chances of adding to his international haul of six.

The both teams to score predictions offer is priced at 13/12, while a Spain 2-0 win is 5/1 in the football score predictions betting.

Predicted Score: Wales 1 - 3 Spain
