Villarreal vs Leganes Betting Tips, Preview & Predictions

In a sentence: Villarreal host Leganes in this midweek round of La Liga predictions, with the hosts in need of three points to boost their Europa League push.

Last time: Leganes won 3-1 at home against Villarreal earlier this season, and beat them 2-2 over two legs in the Copa del Rey.

This time: Villarreal need the points and they are at 4/7 to win, poor travellers Leganes are 11/2 to win and a draw is 14/5.

You might remember: Villarreal reached the Europa League semi-finals in the 2015-16 season, and they are bidding for a fifth successive season of European football – read our La Liga preview to see if they can do it.

Betting Tips & Predictions

The Yellow Submarine will be in full voice when Villarreal host Leganes at the Estadio de la Cerámica in this midweek round of La Liga fixtures

Villarreal are locked in a battle with Real Betis, Sevilla and Girona to secure a Europa League qualification place, and they need a win to keep their chances going as their rivals are improving.

Their home form has been patchy of late, winning just two of their last four La Liga on home territory. However the tendency within football predictions is to go for a home win here, given how much they need the points.

Alongside this, Leganes’ away form has been very poor, with their last La Liga away win coming in mid-October against Malaga.

This could be a tight game, with Leganes’ strength being their ability to shut teams out, but Villarreal will be content with a scrappy win.

The Yellow Submarine have scored just five goals in their last four games, and a tempting one to add to your football bet tips and predictions is a Villarreal win with a total of under 2.5 goals, at 11/5.

Predicted Score: Villarreal CF 1 - 0 CD Leganes

Match Summary

1

Look out for:

Striker Carlos Bacca is in great form for Villarreal at the moment, with three goals in his last five games for the hosts.

Despite their defensive power, the Colombian will cause problems for the visiting defence with his pace and physical presence. He’s featured heavily in La Liga predictions in recent weeks due to his good form, and is 15/4 to score first here.

2

We fancy:

Given the determination to seal a Europa League spot, Villarreal are unlikely to be fussy about how they get three points against a stubborn Leganes.

They will need to battle, but a 1-0 home win at 9/2 looks to be one of the most interesting football score predictions for this tie.

3

It’s a long shot, but:

Villarreal have struggled with disciplinary issues in recent games, and they have ended their last two games with 10 men.

Also in their last five games there have been four red cards, two for and two against Villarreal, with the Malaga defeat the only exception. Another red card in this game is available at 9/2.
