Valencia host Real Betis in La Liga at the weekend, with Los Che aiming to overtake Real Madrid in third place

Valencia will look to make it back-to-back wins over Real Betis when they welcome the Seville outfit to the Mestalla this weekend. Los Che recorded a 6-3 victory when they travelled to the Benito Villamarin earlier this season, but Betis ran out 3-2 winners when the pair met at the Mestalla during the 2016-17 campaign. Neither team has really been able to put together a solid run of victories in this particular clash since Valencia won six straight fixtures between September 2007 and April 2009.

Valencia are 1/2 to collect all three points as Los Che look to continue their excellent home form. Marcelino’s side recorded a 2-1 victory over Real Sociedad at the Mestalla last weekend, and have now won nine of their 13 home La Liga matches during the 2017-18 campaign.

Els Taronges have been victorious in their last two home league fixtures, but Real Madrid won 4-1 at the Mestalla towards the end of January. The former Spanish champions will enter the match off the back of a 1-1 draw at Athletic Bilbao on Thursday night, which saw them consolidate fourth position, and they are now just one point off third-placed Real Madrid in the table.

Real Betis are 11/2 as the Seville outfit look to record their sixth away league win of the campaign. Quique Setien’s side have been a mixed bag on the road this season, winning five, drawing one and losing six of their 12 fixtures.

Los Verdiblancos’ lack of draws this term suggests that they will attack Valencia in this match, which should create an open and entertaining game of football. On Thursday, they drew 0-0 at home to Real Sociedad, which was a result that left them in eighth position in the table, just five points off sixth-placed and bitter rivals Sevilla.

The draw is available at 4/1, but Valencia have already recorded nine home league wins this season, while Real Betis have picked up just one draw on the road. That said, two of the last five league meetings between these two teams have finished level, and both will enter the match off the back of draws. It seems a good price when considering that there could be some tired legs on show following the midweek round of matches.

Santi Mina is 9/2 in the first goalscorer market as the forward looks to build on the two goals that he managed in Valencia’s last home league match. Mina should be fresh after sitting out the clash with Athletic Bilbao during the week, and he has already registered 11 league goals during the 2017-18 campaign. It is 11/2, meanwhile, that the Spaniard scores two or more goals in this match.

Sergio Leon is 19/2 in the first goalscorer market this weekend, while the Real Betis forward can be backed at 28/11 to register at any point during the 90 minutes. Leon has netted nine league goals in just 24 appearances for his Spanish club this season, and will fancy his chances of causing Valencia’s defence problems at the Mestalla.

Match Summary

1

Look out for:

The goals market. Valencia have scored 27 times at the Mestalla in the league this season, while Betis have conceded 22 goals on their travels. Over 3.5 goals can be backed at 6/5, while over 4.5 goals is available at 11/4.

2

We fancy:

Valencia to win 3-1 at 11/1. All of the signs point to an open and entertaining game of football at the Mestalla this weekend, and we fancy the home side to collect all the points courtesy of a 3-1 success.

3

It’s a long shot, but:

Real Betis recorded a 2-0 win at Levante in their last away league fixture, and they can be backed as high as 50/1 to record a 2-0 victory in this match.
