Swansea City vs Arsenal Betting Tips, Preview & Predictions

In a sentence: Bottom club Swansea welcome Arsenal to the Liberty for a midweek fixture that could have a major impact on the fortunes of both clubs.

Last time: Arsene Wenger’s side came from behind to win 2-1 at the Emirates in October, thanks to second half strikes from Sead Kolasinac and Aaron Ramsey. It was their third consecutive victory over the Swans.

This time: Swansea are 13/2 for the win, while Arsenal are 8/15 and the draw is 18/5.

You might remember: A late Ashley Williams goal securing a 2-1 victory for the Swans at the Emirates in March 2016. That was a second win in a row for Swansea in North London, after another late strike from Bafetimbi Gomis the previous season.

Betting Tips & Predictions

Alexandre Lacazette arrived at Arsenal in the summer and has scored regularly

Swansea and Arsenal have very different ambitions at opposite ends of the Premier League, with the hosts looking to climb out of the relegation zone and the visitors trying to keep pace with the top four.

Swansea are 13/2 to pick up what would be a massive three points in their quest for safety. New boss Carvalhal’s only defeat in charge came against Tottenham at the start of January, so the Swans are certainly harder to beat than in the latter weeks of Paul Clement’s reign. Their last league outing was a superb 1-0 win over Liverpool at the Liberty, and the South Wales side should be full of confidence.

Arsenal are 8/15 favourites, but their Jekyll and Hyde nature means we can never be sure of which version of Wenger’s team will turn up. If they perform like they have done in their last two games, hitting in-form Crystal Palace for four and beating Chelsea in the League Cup semi-final, then they’ll have far too much for Swansea.

The draw is 18/5, and could be a decent bet if the Arsenal which has failed to win half of their Premier League fixtures is on show on Tuesday. The Swans have drawn three of their last five games in all competitions, so although certain results have been somewhat disappointing, their form at least provides some optimism that they might be able to turn some of this season’s defeats into a few welcome points.

Luciano Narsingh is 20/1 to open the scoring in this one after breaking the deadlock at the weekend. He took his first FA Cup goal well against Notts County, and will be looking to add to his solitary Premier League strike in this one.

Alexandre Lacazette is the 7/2 favourite to net the first goal of the game, with the Gunners looking to the Frenchman to replace the goals that Alexis Sanchez used to supply. If Giroud gets a chance to perhaps play in his last game for Arsenal late on, he could be worth a punt at being the last goalscorer at odds of 4/1.

Predicted Score: Swansea 0 - 2 Arsenal

Match Summary

Look out for:

Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The Armenian forward was unceremoniously dumped by Jose Mourinho, and has a major point to prove in the Premier League. He’s 4/1 to open the scoring on his debut, 7/5 anytime and 22/1 to bag first in a 2-0 Arsenal victory.

We fancy:

Arsenal to win to nil at 3/2. Swansea have scored just two goals in their eight fixtures against the top six so far this term. They’ve only managed 15 in their 24 games in total, while Arsenal cannot afford to drop points.

It’s a long shot, but:

Swansea to win 1-0 at 20/1. It’d be an incredible achievement for the Swans to record back-to-back 1-0 victories over Liverpool and Arsenal. Predict Alfie Mawson to be the match winner again and the odds increase to a huge 250/1.
