It might not be the most enthralling of encounters as both teams battle for what would be a gigantic three points, but it should still be a very interesting tactical contest. The Hammers have not won at Stoke in the Premier League since March 2013, but they may well fancy their chances of upsetting Hughes’ team this time around.
Stoke are 21/20 to win it as they go in search of their fourth home win of the season. They have only scored 10 home goals during the 2017-18 campaign, but the supporters are sure to create a good atmosphere against a West Ham side that do not travel well.
West Ham are 11/4 to collect all three points, but the Londoners have not won away at Stoke in winning 1-0 four-and-a-half years ago. They are also yet to win an away game in the league this season, and have shipped 21 goals in their nine matches on their travels.
The draw is 5/2 and that could well be where the true value is. Stoke have not exactly been firing in recent weeks, and West Ham have shown improvement in their last few matches. Neither team scores bundles of goals, meanwhile, suggesting that a low-scoring draw could well occur this weekend.
Xherdan Shaqiri is 9/4 to score anytime for Stoke this weekend. The Swiss international has shown glimpses of his Bayern Munich form in the opening months of the season and is certainly capable of upsetting the opposition. He can also be backed for two or more goals at 20/1.
West Ham centre-back Angelo Ogbonna is 28/1 to score anytime. The defender recently netted against Manchester City and will be forward for the majority of the set pieces. Meanwhile, he can be backed at 300/1 to net two or more.
