In a sentence: West Ham United will look to end a run of eight Premier League games without a win against Stoke City when they travel to the Bet365 Stadium this weekend.

Last time: The two teams played out a drab goalless draw when they last locked horns in April. The result helped Stoke reach the 40-point mark in the season, while West Ham moved onto 39 as the pair edged towards Premier League survival.

This time: Stoke are 21/20 to win with West Ham at 11/4 and the draw available at 5/2.

You might remember: The first ever Premier League meeting between the two teams in December 2008. Diego Tristan netted a late winner for the Hammers at Upton Park after Carlton Cole had cancelled out an early header from Abdoulaye Faye.

Betting Tips & Predictions

It might not be the most enthralling of encounters as both teams battle for what would be a gigantic three points, but it should still be a very interesting tactical contest. The Hammers have not won at Stoke in the Premier League since March 2013, but they may well fancy their chances of upsetting Hughes’ team this time around.

Stoke are 21/20 to win it as they go in search of their fourth home win of the season. They have only scored 10 home goals during the 2017-18 campaign, but the supporters are sure to create a good atmosphere against a West Ham side that do not travel well.

West Ham are 11/4 to collect all three points, but the Londoners have not won away at Stoke in winning 1-0 four-and-a-half years ago. They are also yet to win an away game in the league this season, and have shipped 21 goals in their nine matches on their travels.

The draw is 5/2 and that could well be where the true value is. Stoke have not exactly been firing in recent weeks, and West Ham have shown improvement in their last few matches. Neither team scores bundles of goals, meanwhile, suggesting that a low-scoring draw could well occur this weekend.

Xherdan Shaqiri is 9/4 to score anytime for Stoke this weekend. The Swiss international has shown glimpses of his Bayern Munich form in the opening months of the season and is certainly capable of upsetting the opposition. He can also be backed for two or more goals at 20/1.

West Ham centre-back Angelo Ogbonna is 28/1 to score anytime. The defender recently netted against Manchester City and will be forward for the majority of the set pieces. Meanwhile, he can be backed at 300/1 to net two or more.

Match Summary

Look out for:

The first goalscorer. There is plenty of value to be had in this particular market and West Ham’s Manuel Lanzini at 9/1 could well be a smart bet due to the Argentine’s impressive form in recent matches.

We fancy:

Draw/Draw is available at 4/1. It promises to be a tight affair between two teams that have struggled for consistency this season. West Ham would take a point before kickoff and will set up to make it very difficult for the home side.

It’s a long shot, but:

Correct score 3-2 West Ham at 45/1. Stoke have already conceded 15 home Premier League goals this season and the Hammers have plenty of firepower in the final third of the field.
