In a sentence: Stoke City will look to build on their victory over Huddersfield Town when they host out-of-form Watford in the Premier League on Wednesday night.

Last time: Stoke recorded a 1-0 win in the reverse match at Vicarage Road back in October. Darren Fletcher scored the only goal of the clash in the English capital.

This time: Stoke are 13/10 to collect all three points with Watford at 12/5 and the draw 13/5.

You might remember: Watford’s last win away to Stoke came in October 2015, with Troy Deeney and Almen Abdi on the scoresheet for the Hornets. Since then, Stoke have won each of their four Premier League meetings.

Xherdan Shaqiri is capable of the kind of magic Paul Lambert will need if he’s to succeed as Stoke manager

New Stoke boss Paul Lambert will be desperate to make it back-to-back wins in the Premier League when the Potters welcome Watford to the Bet365 Stadium on Wednesday night. The victory over Huddersfield on January 20 moved Stoke out of the bottom three, and they will be looking to overcome a Watford team that have not collected all three points in the top flight since Boxing Day.

Stoke are 13/10 to collect all three points as the Potters look to build on their win over Huddersfield. There were eyebrows raised when Lambert took control of the club, but the team were much-improved last time out. Stoke have actually won their last four Premier League matches with Watford, while they have been victorious in five of their 12 home fixtures during the 2017-18 Premier League season.

Watford are 12/5 as Gracia looks for a positive start to his Premier League reign. Marco Silva was sacked as head coach following a rotten run of form, but Watford are still 10th in the Premier League table after making a strong start to the campaign. The Hornets were dumped out of the FA Cup by Southampton at the weekend, however, and have lost three of their last four Premier League fixtures. The capital outfit have also been beaten in seven of their 12 away top-flight matches this term.

The draw is 13/5, but Stoke have only drawn two Premier League matches on home soil this season, while Watford have shared the points in just one of their 12 league fixtures on the road. There has been a winner in each of the last five Premier League matches between the two teams, although they drew back-to-back Championship matches in December 2007 and March 2008.

Xherdan Shaqiri is 7/1 in the first goalscorer market this weekend. The Swiss international was very impressive against Huddersfield last time out, and it appears that he will be used in a central position by Lambert. It is 27/10, meanwhile, that the former Bayern Munich winger scores at any point during the 90 minutes.

Richarlison is 7/1 in the first goalscorer market, while the Brazilian can be backed at 11/4 to register at any point during the match. The 20-year-old was a real find by Watford during the summer transfer window, and he has already managed five Premier League goals this term.

Match Summary

1

Look out for:

The first goalscorer market has plenty of excellent value. Aside from the forward players, the likes of Stephen Ireland and Marvin Zeegelaar can be backed at 13/1 and 40/1 respectively. There is plenty of value in this particular market.

2

We fancy:

Correct score of 1-1 can be backed at 25/4. It promises to be a tight affair at the Bet365 Stadium, and a low-scoring draw looks a likely outcome here.

3

It’s a long shot, but:

Watford to win 2-0 is available at 18/1. Gracia will be looking to make an impression in his first game as a Premier League manager, and there is no question that the Hornets have the firepower to upset a leaky Stoke defence.
