Away Manchester City

Match Summary

1 Look out for:

Goals. There have been at least four goals scored in four of the last six Premier League meetings between these two teams. Over 3.5 goals is available at 13/10, while over 4.5 goals can be backed at 3/1.

2 We fancy:

Manchester City to win with both teams on the scoresheet is available at 15/8, which is a fair price considering Stoke have enough about themselves to cause the visitors problems on Monday night.

3 It's a long shot, but…

Stoke’s last win over Manchester City was a 2-0 success on home soil in December 2015. It is 110/1 that the Potters repeat that scoreline in this match.

Stoke's Last Six:

Won: 1 Drawn: 4 Lost: 1

Peter Crouch and Ryan Shawcross were both named on the bench against Southampton last weekend as they recover from ankle injuries, and the pair are now in line to start against City on Monday night.

Darren Fletcher, however, is expected to remain on the bench as Joe Allen joins Geoff Cameron and January signing Badou N’Diaye in the middle of the park.

Manchester City's Last Six:

Won: 4 Drawn: 0 Lost: 2

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola will recall the likes of Sergio Aguero, David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne following Wednesday’s 2-1 home defeat to Basel in the Champions League.

Vincent Kompany is also expected to return alongside Nicolas Otamendi at centre-back, while Raheem Sterling and Fernandinho could feature after recovering from injury.

Stoke vs Manchester City Betting Tips, Preview & Predictions

Xherdan Shaqiri’s performance will be crucial if Stoke are to have any chance of beating Manchester City

Stoke City’s battle to stay in the Premier League will continue on Monday night when they welcome runaway league leaders Manchester City to the Bet365 Stadium. The Citizens thumped Stoke 7-2 at the Etihad earlier this season, and also recorded a 4-1 victory when they travelled to the Potters last term.

That said, Stoke did beat the Blues 2-0 on home soil in December 2015. It is a tough task for Paul Lambert’s side to stop a team that are edging ever closer to the English title, but the Potters have only lost one of their last six in the Premier League.

Stoke are 14/1 to triumph as they look to escape the bottom three. There is no question that Lambert has improved the team since replacing Mark Hughes as head coach, with his side losing just one of their last six Premier League matches. That said, four of their last five in the top flight have finished level.

A total of 27 points has left Stoke in 19th position in the table, but they are only one point behind 17th-placed Southampton, and will be fired up to face City on Monday night. A win would be huge as the Staffordshire club attempt to remain in the Premier League.

Manchester City are 1/4 to record their 26th Premier League win of the season. The Citizens currently sit 16 points clear of second-placed Manchester United in the table, and will be looking to win their 12th away league game of the 2017-18 campaign on Monday night.

Guardiola’s side recorded a 1-0 victory over Chelsea at the Etihad last weekend, but will enter this match off the back of a shock 2-1 home defeat to Basel in their Champions League last 16 second leg. Only Liverpool have beaten Manchester City in the Premier League this season though, and Stoke have a tough job on their hands on Monday night.

The draw is available at 6/1, and as mentioned, Stoke have drawn four of their last five Premier League matches – including each of their last three. Draws are not much use to Lambert’s side at this stage of the season, but there is no question that they would take that result in this match. Manchester City have been flying on the road this season, however, winning 11 of their 14 matches to collect 35 points. These two teams have also not shared the points at Stoke since September 2013.

Xherdan Shaqiri is 19/1 in the first goalscorer market, while the Switzerland international can be backed at 11/2 to score at any point during the 90 minutes of football. Shaqiri has scored seven Premier League goals for the Potters this season, including three in his last four appearances at this level.

Sergio Aguero is 11/4 to break the deadlock as the City forward goes in search of his 22nd Premier League goal of the campaign. The Argentine has been in stunning form for the Citizens in recent weeks, netting nine times in his last eight league appearances, and he can be backed at 4/1 to score two or more during the 90 minutes of action.

Predicted Score: Stoke 1 - 2 Manchester City
