Match Summary

1 Look out for:

James Forrest. The winger had to adapt his gameplay a lot last season, with Celtic often playing a back three with Forrest as a wing-back. However, with Rodgers now experimenting with a 4-2-3-1 the Scottish international is able to play to his strengths and get forward.

One to Watch: Olivier Ntcham

The 22-year-old midfielder signed for Celtic in the 2017 summer transfer window from Manchester City, but has only this season truly burst onto the scene. Brendan Rodgers has placed his faith in the Frenchman and Ntcham has certainly repaid it, scoring the only goal in the Old Firm derby last week, his second Premiership strike of the season.

Able to play across midfield, the former Genoa man offers strength and an attacking instinct from defensive midfield, but also a strong creative ability further forward, and certainly seems a great prospect for the future.

Oran Kearney will have had little time to decide on his own starting XI and will likely field a similar team to that which lost to Hearts, as the new manager looks to discover more about his squad.

Brendan Rodgers may be tempted to rest Leigh Griffiths, after the forward featured in Scotland’s international fixtures. That could see Odsonne Edouard win a second consecutive start, with Scott Sinclair also pushing for a game.

St Mirren FC vs Celtic Betting Tips, Preview & Predictions

Brendan Rodgers failed to lead Celtic into the Champions League, but the Bhoys need to forget about that and concentrate on getting back to the top of the Scottish Premiership table

The Scottish Premiership gets back underway on Friday as St Mirren host champions Celtic. Brendan Rodgers’ side are in the unusual position of second place in the table, and will be keen to reclaim top spot as soon as possible.

St Mirren are 16/1 to win, and with just three points from their opening four games, they look to be in for a miserable season. However, having brought in new manager Oran Kearney, fans will be hoping that the Irishman can turn things around for the newly-promoted side.

Celtic are 1/5 for the win on Friday, and will be desperate to keep up with Hearts, who beat the champions on the opening day. Having failed to qualify for the Champions League, Rodgers’ side need to regain some confidence domestically before tackling the Europa League.

A draw is 5/1 and would take an uncharacteristically solid performance from St Mirren. New managers often inspire better performances though, and the players will be auditioning for their chance in Kearney’s starting XI.

Daniel Mullen is 19/1 to score first and is the only Saints player to have hit the target this season. The forward started the season well with two goals against Dundee on the opening day, but has failed to repeat the feat since.

Leigh Griffiths is 3/1 to score first, having been the favourite to do so throughout his Celtic career. The striker has yet to get off the mark in the Premiership this season, but already has goals to his name in Europe and the cup so it is surely just a matter of time.

Predicted Score: St Mirren FC 0 - 2 Celtic
