Match Summary

1 Look out for:

The pantomime villain, Sergio Ramos played a role he’s grown accustomed to against England on Saturday. However, the Real Madrid defender seems to revel in the jeers. The Spanish skipper is a threat from set pieces and has been taking penalties for his club this season. He’s 16/1 with 888sport to score first.

2 We fancy:

Spain have scored in eight of their last 10 matches, while Croatia have done so in all six of their most recent fixtures. Therefore, a both teams to score bet looks like a solid football prediction for Tuesday’s match. It’s available at 4/1 with bet365.

3 It's a long shot, but…

Spain put in a classy performance against England for the majority of their weekend meeting, and there’s renewed optimism after their shambolic World Cup. La Roja are 8/1 with 10bet to win this game 2-1, rising to 25/1 if you choose Rodrigo as the first scorer.

One to Watch: Luka Modric

Luka Modric has been getting the recognition he deserves as one of the world’s best players over the last couple of months. The Real Madrid midfielder helped his club lift a third successive Champions League crown in May, before winning the Golden Ball at the World Cup as the tournament’s best player.

Modric is in the running for more personal honours over the coming months, but he’ll be desperate for some success with Croatia after losing in the final against France. He could take this game by the scruff of the net and he is 16/1 with BetBright to score his 15th international with the opener on Tuesday.

There’s no Diego Costa for Spain after he withdrew from the squad for personal reasons. Iago Aspas was called up to replace him and started up front in La Roja’s victory over England on Saturday night. He could keep his place for this one, although Alvaro Morata and Marco Asensio are pushing for a start.

There were seven changes for Croatia’s game against Portugal from their starting XI in the World Cup final. Ivan Rakitic should come back into the side after missing Thursday’s friendly, although there’s no more Mario Mandzukic after the Juventus forward retired from international duty.

Spain vs Croatia Betting Tips, Preview & Predictions

Will Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata get the nod up front for Spain against Croatia?

This could be a tough Nations League preview for Croatia as they look to build on their impressive World Cup campaign. Defeat to France was a bitter pill to swallow, and their reaction in a first competitive game since the final will be crucial.

Spain are 8/11 in your Nations League predictions, and they gave a good response of their own after their disappointing World Cup. La Roja beat England 2-1 at Wembley in Luis Enrique’s first match in charge, although they were somewhat lucky to claim all three points after Danny Welbeck’s injury-time equaliser was controversially ruled out.

Croatia are 9/2 in the football predictions for this game, which could be a tempting priced considering their performances in Russia. The Vatreni drew 1-1 in Portugal last week, but they were under par and registered only five shots at goal. They beat Spain 2-1 in their final group game at Euro 2016, though, and will take some confidence from that.

The draw is 14/5, and there’s only ever been one stalemate between the two countries. That was a goalless draw back in a 2000 friendly, with a repeat of that result priced at 17/2 in your football score predictions. Considering the forward-thinking players in both sides, though, the score draw looks more likely at 22/5 if the game ends all square.

Alvaro Morata, Iago Aspas and Rodrigo Moreno are all available at 19/4 for the first goal, while Isco – who started on the left of Spain’s attack against England – is 15/2. That’s the same price as Marco Asensio, while Ivan Perisic is 12/1 to break the deadlock after he did so against Portugal in Croatia’s last game.

Predicted Score: Spain 2 - 1 Croatia
