In a sentence: This will be only the second time that Southampton have faced Watford in the FA Cup, with the only other meeting being back in the semi finals in 2003.

Last time: Abdoulaye Doucoure scored a controversial late equaliser for the Hornets as Southampton blew a two-goal half time lead. Seeing as the fixture was only a matter of weeks ago, Saints will be feeling that they have to put Watford away in the cup this time round.

This time: Southampton are 10/11 to win on the day, whilst Watford are 9/4 and the draw is 12/5.

You might remember: Earlier on in the Premier League season Watford travelled to St. Mary’s in early September and came away with a 2-0 victory. At the time it was Watford’s second win of the season and saw them sitting in the final Champions League place in the league.

Betting Tips & Predictions

Javi Gracia has replaced Marco Silva as Watford manager

Both of these sides have been on a downward slope for the past few weeks in the Premier League, but this game in the FA Cup gives them a chance to explore a different route to some sort of success. A decent showing in the world’s oldest cup competition would at least bring some much-needed cheer for the supporters.

Southampton are 10/11 to win this fixture, but seeing as they’ve only managed to win three times at home this season in the Premier League and lost their only EFL Cup game against Wolves at St. Mary’s, another Watford win on the coast could be on the cards. The Hornets are 9/4 to pick up a maiden victory under new boss Gracia, who’s replaced Silva in the Vicarage Road hot seat.

Manolo Gabbiadini is 4/1 to score the first goal of the game, while Andre Gray is 5/1 to break the deadlock for the away side this weekend. A repeat of the 2-2 scoreline in this fixture in the Premier League back in September will see you get 18/1.

Match Summary

1

Look out for:

A 0-0 draw. Southampton don’t tend to score many goals at all this season, so another goalless game at 10/1 wouldn’t be out of place here.

2

We Fancy:

A 1-0 win for Watford is 12/1, and if you throw in Doucoure as the scorer the odds are 80/1. He’s already scored in two games against the Saints, so another strike would make it a hat-trick for the French midfielder.

3

It's a long shot, but:

James Ward-Prowse was impressive for the Saints against Tottenham, so he could be attractive at 33/1 to be the only goalscorer of the game.
