27/01/2018 Kick Off:  3:00 pm St. Mary's Stadium V Predicted Score:0 - 1

Away Watford

Match Summary

1 Look out for:

A 0-0 draw. Southampton don’t tend to score many goals at all this season, so another goalless game at 10/1 wouldn’t be out of place here.

2 We fancy:

A 1-0 win for Watford is 12/1, and if you throw in Doucoure as the scorer the odds are 80/1. He’s already scored in two games against the Saints, so another strike would make it a hat-trick for the French midfielder.

3 It's a long shot, but…

James Ward-Prowse was impressive for the Saints against Tottenham, so he could be attractive at 33/1 to be the only goalscorer of the game.

Team News

Southampton's Last Six:

Southampton’s last six: Won : 1 Drawn: 3 Lost: 2

Charlie Austin is set to miss out once again for the Saints who are in desperate need for some firepower upfront. They’ve been missing Austin’s goals of late, and may not have enough to get them through to the next round.

The Southampton squad looks fit and ready to go aside from that, but will Mauricio Pellegrino be able to get another FA Cup win out of his side who are clearly down on confidence?

Watford's Last Six:

Watford’s last six: Won: 2 Drawn: 1 Lost: 3

Watford’s form has taken an almighty dip since their early season heroics which saw them occupying the European places. It’s cost Marco Silva his job, and recent injury problems have meant the Hornets have slipped down the table and may need reinforcements in January.

Miguel Britos, Kiko Femenia, and Nathaniel Chalobah are all still suffering from long term injuries and are certain to miss out, while some first team players like Doucoure and Richarlison could be handed a rest.

Southampton vs Watford Betting Tips, Preview & Predictions

Javi Gracia has replaced Marco Silva as Watford manager

Both of these sides have been on a downward slope for the past few weeks in the Premier League, but this game in the FA Cup gives them a chance to explore a different route to some sort of success. A decent showing in the world’s oldest cup competition would at least bring some much-needed cheer for the supporters.

Southampton are 10/11 to win this fixture, but seeing as they’ve only managed to win three times at home this season in the Premier League and lost their only EFL Cup game against Wolves at St. Mary’s, another Watford win on the coast could be on the cards. The Hornets are 9/4 to pick up a maiden victory under new boss Gracia, who’s replaced Silva in the Vicarage Road hot seat.

Manolo Gabbiadini is 4/1 to score the first goal of the game, while Andre Gray is 5/1 to break the deadlock for the away side this weekend. A repeat of the 2-2 scoreline in this fixture in the Premier League back in September will see you get 18/1.

Predicted Score: Southampton 0 - 1 Watford
