Sheffield Wednesday vs Middlesbrough Betting Tips, Preview & Predictions

Sheffield Wednesday take on Middlesbrough at Hillsborough on Friday night

Friday night football sees Middlesbrough travel to Sheffield Wednesday looking to bounce back from their recent defeat. However, a win for the hosts would see them draw level with Pulis’s side, adding an extra level of complexity to the game.

Sheffield Wednesday are 12/5 to win, and are unbeaten in their last four games, including draws against title competitors Leeds, and the recently relegated Stoke. Luhukay has built himself an impressive side, who lacked consistency last season, but have attacking talent in abundance and will be frustrated with their cross-town rivals’ position at the head of the table.

Middlesbrough are 6/5 to take three points at Hillsborough. Last season’s play-off semi-finalists’ five-game unbeaten run was brought to an end in their last game, as Nottingham Forest continued their march up the table. Another slip-up could see them drop a further two places down the table, whilst a win could see them top.

A draw is 23/10, and given that Pulis will likely set up to defend, would be a solid bet this weekend. Wednesday have proven strong at unlocking teams this season, but the Middlesborough manager has made a career out of making his sides hard to beat.

Fernando Forestieri is 2/1 to score anytime and proved decisive against West Brom, scoring a 90th-minute equaliser. The Argentinian’s guile and creativity will be useful against a tough back line.

Britt Assombalonga is 8/5 to score on Friday, and has four goals to his name this season. The Congo forward’s pace has proved a useful weapon for Pulis’s side, with half of his goals coming away from home.

Predicted Score: Sheffield Wednesday 2 - 1 Middlesbrough
