Home Sheffield United

27/01/2018 Kick Off:  3:00 pm Bramall Lane V Predicted Score:1 - 1

Away Preston North End

Match Summary

1 Look out for:

Preston to win the game at the odds they are could be good value considering Sheffield’s recent home form and should the home side rest players, could be a solid bet.

2 We fancy:

The 1-1 draw at 6/1 looks a good price. Both sides will rest key players and potentially cancel each other out slightly. Neither side has been particularly strong defensively though this season, so both teams should be able to score.

3 It's a long shot, but…

Preston to win and both teams to score at 13/2. Sheffield are more likely to rest more players given their position in the league and with Preston being mid-table, they could field a stronger side. Away from home a clean sheet would be a tough ask but winning the game with both teams to score could prove a winner.

Sheffield United vs Preston North End Betting Tips, Preview & Predictions

Preston will be hoping Leon Clarke is one of the players Sheffield United rest for this FA Cup tie

Both Sheffield United and Preston will be pushing for the play-offs this season in the Championship so will more than likely rest players for this tie. The Blades come into the game on the back of a 2-1 away win over Norwich at the weekend, whilst Preston were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Birmingham City.

United successfully navigated their third-round tie away to fellow Championship side, Ipswich, and will be looking to progress past the fourth round for the first time since the 2013-14 season when they reached the semi-finals. United’s brilliant start to their first season back in the Championship has halted slightly of late, picking up just two league wins in their last 11. At 5/4 they are slight favourites for this game and given the home advantage, are good value for a win.

Preston are made slight underdogs at 67/25 but in a cup game against same league opposition, this one looks close to call. Preston cruised past Wycombe in the last round, thrashing their league two opponents 5-1 away from home. They have made it past the fourth round just once in the past four seasons but are in good form at the moment, losing just one of their last 12 league games.

Given that both sides may have priorities elsewhere, the draw at 12/5 looks appealing. The managers will make changes, which could lead to a slightly dis-jointed affair. Preston have been difficult to beat since mid-November and have drawn six of their last 12 games whilst Sheffield have also drawn two of their last three in the Championship. Preston also have the highest amount of draws in any of the top four leagues in the country.

Both teams to score has occurred in nine of Sheffield’s last 13 league games and in seven of Preston’s last 13, showing these two sides are often involved in goals and both teams to score can be found at Evens.

Predicted Score: Sheffield United 1 - 1 Preston North End
