Betting Tips & Predictions

Sheffield United are in danger of missing out on the play-offs, and they need a good result as fellow promotion-chasers Middlesbrough come to town

Sheffield United’s play-off ambitions have taken a serious dive in the last four games, including the weekend’s 3-2 defeat at the hands of relegation-threatened Barnsley. Boro are holding on to the final play-off place by the single point at the moment, with Millwall breathing down their necks. A win is vital here for both sides if they are to make the play-offs this season.

United have gone four games without a victory, including three draws, two of which from winning positions. At 8/5 they are made favourites and their home form would support the odds given. United have lost just one of their last eight games at home and have conceded just five goals in their last 10 matches at Bramall Lane.

As for Boro, their form hasn’t been brilliant on the road. They have won just one of their last six away games and have drawn the last two. They have conceded in five of those six games, including three at Sunderland and a 1-1 draw with lowly Burton Albion. They have lost just two of their last 10 Championship games, however, but will know that if they fail to win this game, they could drop out of the play-off places.

United have drawn three of their last four games and are very tough to beat at home. Both sides need to win the game and Middlesbrough’s quality might just be enough to see them get the necessary three points. Boro in the ‘draw no bet’ market at evens is one of our free football betting tips, given that United are desperate for three points to stay in touch with the top six. Their play-off chances are dwindling and their desperation for three points might just give Boro too many opportunities.

Sheffield United have not kept a clean sheet in their last three games and Middlesbrough have not failed to score a goal in a game since their 1-0 defeat to Cardiff City in February. United have scored in five of their last seven home games also, so both teams to score at 22/23 could be one of the best Championship predictions here.

Goals have not been frequent in games these two sides have been involved in recently, so the under 2.5 goals bet is another of our football predictions in this one at 17/25. Under 2.5 goals has resulted in five of Boro’s last six Championship away games and five of Sheffield United’s last seven home games in the league.

Match Summary

1

Look out for:

Both teams to score is our football prediction in this game at 22/23. Both sides have scored goals in their respective home and away games, making this a good bet.

2

We fancy:

Boro ‘draw no bet’ at evens features in our football predictions for today. Boro have the incentive to get the three points, while United’s chances of making the play-offs are fading and their desperation could leave them vulnerable. United are strong at home so the draw no bet could come in handy.

3

It’s a long shot, but:

Middlesbrough to win 2-1 as part of your football score predictions is 11/1. Boro have the ability to score plenty of goals and are a real threat going forward, while United always seems to score at home. We fancy Boro here so them to nick a close one could be worth a punt.
