In a sentence: Following their loss against Wolves, Sheffield United need a win against managerless Leeds to get back amongst the favourites for the play-offs.

Last time: The Blades took an early lead back in October to win 2-1 at Elland Road to secure their place at the top of the Championship, with Leeds still in fourth position.

This time: Sheffield United are 17/20 to win, with a draw at 12/5 and an away win priced at 10/3.

You might remember: Captain Billy Sharp opening the scoring for Chris Wilder’s side in the second minute in October, before David Brooks fired home a winner with just under 10 minutes left.

Leon Clarke carries Sheffield United’s goal burden on his shoulders

Following an awful run of form, Sheffield United have dropped out of the automatic promotion places and the play-off spots altogether and currently sit in eighth place. Their loss away at Wolves was their second in as many games and has left them in a bad spot in terms of promotion, but they will fancy themselves against a poor Leeds team who have been on an even worse run themselves.

The Blades are currently priced at 16/1 to win this one 3-1 and given Leeds’ poor run, it wouldn’t be a surprise if there are plenty of goals in this game. The Whites have the worst defensive record in the top 10, and being without a manager won’t help in the slightest.

Following the sacking of Thomas Christensen, Leeds once again find themselves in the market for a new boss. A win would be a great relief to the club, but given their precarious position, it might be wise for them to pinpoint a draw, with 1-1 at 6/1. Or, if you’re feeling like a lack of manager might do them well, a 2-1 Leeds win is at 14/1.

The unpredictable nature of this game means we could be in store for goals and calamitous defending, so both teams to score and a Sheffield United win is 16/5, while a Leeds win and both teams to score bet can be found at 7/1. Leon Clarke is the 15/4 favourite to open the scoring for the hosts.

Match Summary

Look out for:

Discipline. Leeds have a terrible disciplinary record of late, so don’t be surprised to see a penalty be given at 3/1. A penalty to be scored is 4/1 and one missed is 11/1.

We fancy:

Goals to be the order of the day in Yorkshire, so Sheffield United to win and five or more goals in the game could be temping at 10/1.

It’s a long shot, but:

It would be typical of Leeds to start this one as clear underdogs and come away with a win, and if you think it’ll be a big one you can get 125/1 on a 4-0 away victory.
