Match Summary

One to Watch: Oliver Norwood

The Brighton loanee has picked his game up in recent weeks, recovering well from a missed penalty on his debut.

The Northern Ireland international has a goal and two assists already this season and fans will be pleased that Sheffield are signing their man permanently once the January transfer window opens.

A traditional central midfielder, Norwood has proved his worth at setting the tempo of Wilder’s side, and provides a threat from set pieces.

Sheffield United vs Birmingham City Betting Tips, Preview & Predictions

Sheffield United host Birmingham City at Bramall Lane on Wednesday night

Sheffield United host Birmingham in midweek, looking to recover from their first loss in five last weekend. Birmingham have yet to win this season, but have been slowly improving and put in their best performance of the season against West Brom.

Sheffield are 17/20 to win on Wednesday, and have been in fine form recently,  let down only by their finishing in their Saturday loss to Bristol City. Wilder’s side are currently in the play-off places, and in their current form, could be in contention for their second promotion in two years.

Birmingham are 3/1 to win, and were desperately unlucky not to take all three points on Friday. Gary Monk’s side have pulled off three consecutive draws, but will need to start winning soon if they are to have any chance of survival this season.

A draw is 13/5 and would be considered a success for Monk’s side away to Sheffield. With one of the best defences in the league, the Midlands side will likely try and shut out their opponents, and given their recent successes, a draw is uncommonly likely.

Leon Clarke is 9/2 to score first having finished last season third in the Championship goalscoring charts. The forward missed Sheffield’s last game through injury and will be hoping to return and get off the mark this term.

Lukas Jutkiewicz is 8/1 to score the first goal, and has impressed up front for Birmingham despite only scoring one goal so far. Whether partnered in a front two or as a lone striker Jutkiewicz offers Monk’s side’s biggest threat.

Predicted Score: Sheffield United 2 - 0 Birmingham City
