Match Summary

1 Look out for:

Stoke’s front line. The Potters have a host of big-name players leading their attack with Benik Afobe, Saido Berahino and Peter Crouch all competing for the lone striker position. As a result Rowett tends to rotate mid-match, causing problems for opponents, but possibly a boon for football score predictions.

2 We fancy:

A lot of goals. Stoke have been scoring freely in the league this season, but have largely struggled defensively. With Rotherham conceding 14 goals themselves from their opening nine games, over 2.5 goals is likely when looking for football betting tips for the weekend.

3 It's a long shot, but…

Kyle Vassell to score anytime. The left winger has yet to score for Rotherham this season but hit 11 plus four assists for Blackpool in League One last term. Strong and physical, Vassell will offer support for Michael Smith and is a name to watch in weekend football predictions.

One to Watch: Ryan Mannings

Having brought Mannings in on loan from QPR the midfielder has been one of Rotherham’s best performers this season. Operating in central midfield, the 22-year-old has emerged as the metronome for Warne’s side and offers a real threat from set pieces. Manning already has as many assists as he did last season, and is well on track to beat his goal record too.

Michael Smith is likely to return up front in favour of Jamie Proctor, who was brought off at half-time against Nottinham Forest. Otherwise, Paul Warne will field a largely similar side to that which impressed dispute losing last weekend.

Saido Berahino may be pushing for a start after the forward put in a strong substitute performance against Blackburn. Ashley Williams remains a long-term absence for Gary Rowett, meaning Ryan Shawcross will continue his partnership with Bruno Martins Indi in central defence.

Rotherham United vs Stoke Betting Tips, Preview & Predictions

Rotherham’s recent home wins give them hope as they host Stoke this weekend

Locked on nine points, Stoke travel to Rotherham this weekend looking to get their season back on track. The home side have struggled to build up a run of form so far, and are yet to win more than one game in a row, making them a nightmare for Championship predictions.

Rotherham are 5/2 to win, and have won their last two home games, despite loosing the four away matches in between. Clearly, the home advantage is a significant one for the Millers, and they will hope that it gives them the edge over an ailing Stoke side. That record is something that has to be considered in football bet tips and predictions.

Stoke are evens to win this weekend, and are showing signs of picking their form up after a dire start to the season. The Potters only narrowly lost their most recent game, agains Blackburn, and could’ve turned it around had Berahino not missed a last minute penalty. A win against Rotherham is vital for Rowett’s side, with a play-off place already looking far on the horizon, a turn up from the average Championship preview at the start of the season.

A draw is 23/10 and is unlikely give than the Millers are yet to win this season. Stoke will also be looking for a win, although a draw would at least ensure that neither side drops into the relegation zone. Most football predictions say the sooner a team gets out of trouble, the better.

Michael Smith is 7/1 to score first, but is in poor form for Rotherham and is yet to score, making him a problem for football score predictions. Rowett will need to find a way to get his front line scoring, with the goals coming from midfield at the moment.

Benik Afobe is 6/1 to score the first goal and already has four goals for the Potters this season. The strikers form may be keeping Stoke afloat at the moment, although the back line needs to firm up, otherwise his goals will count for little.

Predicted Score: Rotherham United 1 - 0 Stoke
