Home Ross County

    31/01/2018 Kick Off:  7:45 pm Global Energy Stadium V Predicted Score:0 - 2

    Away Aberdeen

      Match Summary

      1 Look out for:

Niall McGinn. The Northern Irish international has returned to Ross County for a second spell, and marked his first start with an outstanding performance. The forward followed up an assist with a fine finish to ensure that his side beat Kilmarnock. McGinn is 13/2 to score last once again.

      2 We fancy:

Aberdeen to win and Rooney to score at 16/5. Back the striker to get back to scoring ways as the Dons keep up the pressure on Rangers for second place.

      3 It's a long shot, but…

Schalke to score first at 11/1. The tricky midfielder scored recently against St Johnstone and will have memories of his wonder goal against Aberdeen last season.

Owen Coyle will be without Sean Kelly or Jamie Lindsay, with both players sustaining minor knocks in recent weeks. Despite missing this fixture, both are in line to return at the weekend.

        Aberdeen's Last Six:

          Aberdeen’s last six: Won 3 Drawn: 1 Lost: 2

Derek McInnes has to look to the transfer market following cartilage damage to first choice keeper Joe Lewis, with a bid for Freddie Woodman expected in the next week. Forward Stevie May is set to return soon following a knee injury, taking some of the pressure off Adam Rooney.

Ross County vs Aberdeen Betting Tips, Preview & Predictions

A view of Victoria Park where Ross County play their home games

Bizarrely, considering the two’s respective fortunes over the past few years, matches between Ross County and Aberdeen have been closely fought affairs. In the last four meetings, the Dons have won by just one goal, with the Staggies winning the match before that.

Aberdeen are 8/11 to come out on top, and the two sides’ form suggests that this would be a highly likely outcome. Level with Rangers on points, McInnes’ side can’t afford to slip up against the Premiership’s bottom side, and will be looking to take advantage of their rival’s cup match.

Ross County are 4/1 to win, and will be hoping to replicate last season’s success in this fixture. Coyle will be hoping that the home advantage will be sufficient enough to overcome his side’s recent run of poor form.

A draw is 13/5, a result that we haven’t seen between the two since the 2013/14 season. However, given how close the sides’ recent matches have been, it’s a far more realistic proposition that that statistic suggests, especially considering the Dons’ goalkeeping problem.

Craig Curran is 5/4 to score anytime, with five goals for the Staggies already this season, including three in his last seven games. The forward has made a habit of scoring against high quality opposition, including a strike against Wednesday’s opponents in the first game of the season.

Rooney is 5/4 to score at anytime against Ross County and will be the highest scoring player on the pitch on Wednesday. With six league goals to his name so far this season, the forward will be looking to end his unwanted run of three games without a goal.

Predicted Score: Ross County 0 - 2 Aberdeen
