In a sentence: Lazio hold a two-goal lead over Salzburg as they visit Austria and will be looking to book a semi-final place – can the home side overturn the deficit?

Last time: Goals were predicted in the Europa League previews for the first leg and it did not let us down. Lazio took the lead twice only to be pegged back on both occasions, but two goals in the game’s last 20 minutes from Felipe Anderson and Ciro Immobile secured a 4-2 win for Lazio.

This time: Salzburg are 23/20 for the win with Lazio at 9/4 and the draw 5/2.

You might remember: These two sides met in the Europa League group stages back in 2009. Salzburg won both games 2-1, they will need to better that score to progress this time.

Betting Tips & Predictions

RB Salzburg have been excellent at the Red Bull Arena in recent times, and they need another strong performance in front of their own fans to get past Lazio on Thursday

Despite Lazio carrying a two-goal lead into this week’s second leg, this tie is far from over and we should not rule out Salzburg qualifying in our Europa League predictions.

After a nine-month unbeaten streak, Austrian leaders Salzburg lost twice in a matter of days and have now lost back-to-back matches for the first time since 2016. Prior to last week’s defeat in Rome, Salzburg had gone 35 matches without loss and it was their first defeat in Europe since losing to Nice around 18 months ago.

It is not all doom and gloom for Salzburg, as their home form has been excellent domestically and in Europe. They will need to match the two goals they managed last week and those away goals could prove pivotal. Die Roten Bullen have only conceded twice at home in 2018 and only Real Sociedad have scored at the Red Bull Arena in the Europa League. With their home record in mind it could be worth including a Salzburg win at 23/20 in your football predictions.

Free-scoring Lazio will be full of confidence as they travel to Austria. It is 12 goals scored in their last three games and they have managed 10 goals in their five away fixtures in this season’s Europa League. They will need to be at their best to break down Salzburg at home, and knowing their hosts must attack them, Simone Inzaghi’s team will fancy their chances of hurting Salzburg. Lazio should not take their qualification for granted and must respect the Austrian side’s home form, but having said that an away win at 9/4 represents good value.

The draw is well priced at 5/2. With Salzburg’s ability to keep it tight at the back and Lazio having scored 100 goals between Serie A and the Europa league, including a draw in your football score predictions is worth a thought.

Lazio are hot favourites to qualify at 1/4, while Salzburg are an outside 4/1. Despite the first leg score, the home side have a better chance of qualifying than those odds suggest and there could be profit to be made. Seeing Salzburg in the semi-finals is not out of the question, and it’s a football prediction that could be worth a punt.

Munas Dabbur is best placed to open the scoring at 9/2 and is followed closely by Immobile at 5/1. Returning Hee-chan offers good value to break the deadlock first at 6/1.

Match Summary

1

Look out for:

Ciro Immobile. The Italian forward is on a hot streak having scored four times in his last three games. He has 38 goals for the season with seven in his last eight Europa League appearances, so don’t be surprised to see him score again on Thursday. Immobile is 5/1 to score first, 6/4 to score anytime and is 8/1 to score two or more.

2

We fancy:

Salzburg should have enough to win this game but will do well keep Lazio out. One of our best free football betting tips here is a Salzburg win and both teams to score at 13/5.

3

It’s a long shot, but:

It is 14/1 for Salzburg to pick up a 2-0 win that would see them through to the next round, and Marco Rose’s side are more than capable of pulling that result off. You can boost your football score predictions with a scorecast, and it is 40/1 for the 2-0 result and Salzburg top scorer Munas Dabbur to bag first.
