Real Sociedad take on Alaves at the Anoeta in this La Liga clash on Sunday

Real Sociedad will attempt to make it back-to-back La Liga wins against Alaves when they welcome their Basque rivals to the Anoeta this weekend. Real Sociedad recorded a 2-0 victory in the reverse league match earlier this season, and posted a 3-0 win when they welcomed Alaves during the 2016-17 campaign. That said, Alaves have actually won four of the last nine league meetings, and the in-form visitors will enter the match above their rivals in the table following Thursday’s 1-0 success over Levante.

Real Sociedad are 3/4 as Eusebio Sacristan’s side go in search of their sixth home victory of this La Liga campaign. The Basque outfit have won five, drawn three and lost five of their 13 home league fixtures this term, and will enter this match having been victorious in their last two La Liga games at the Anoeta.

Sociedad have also scored plenty of home league goals this season – 30 – but there is no question that their supporters will be frustrated with what has been an inconsistent campaign. Indeed, Thursday’s goalless draw at Real Betis left them in 15th position in the table, one point behind 14th-placed Alaves.

Alaves are 43/10 to record an away win this weekend. Abelardo’s side suffered a 4-0 defeat in their last away fixture against Real Madrid, although they did record an impressive 2-1 win at Villarreal on February 10. Alaves have actually not drawn a single away La Liga fixture this term, winning three and losing nine of 12 such fixtures during the 2017-18 campaign.

Los Babazorros did suffer a 3-0 defeat when they travelled to the Anoeta for the corresponding match last term, but they scored late to beat Levante on Thursday as they won their 10th La Liga game of the season.

The draw is available at 3/1, but Alaves have not drawn a single away league match this season. Real Sociedad, meanwhile, have shared the points in just three of their 13 home La Liga fixtures this term. That said, the table suggests that there will not be too much between these teams this weekend. The last time that Sociedad and Alaves played out a draw at the Anoeta was in September 2008.

Juanmi is available at 11/2 in the first goalscorer market, while the Real Sociedad forward can be backed at 17/10 to score at any point during the 90 minutes. The 24-year-old has seven goals in all competitions for his Basque club this season, and is expected to again start through the middle due to the absence of Willian Jose.

Guidetti is available at 9/1 in the first goalscorer market, as the 25-year-old goes in search of his second La Liga goal for Alaves. The Swede joined the Basque side on loan from Celta Vigo during the January transfer window, and has shown good form in recent weeks. It is 22/1 that the former Manchester City striker manages two or more goals during the 90 minutes of action.

Match Summary

Look out for:

The match result and both teams to score market, which has some interesting value. Real Sociedad can be backed at 5/2 under these circumstances, with Alaves at 8/1 and the draw available at 17/4.

We fancy:

Real Sociedad to win 2-1 at 8/1. La Real have scored but also conceded plenty of goals on home soil this season. Alaves, however, have only managed nine goals on their travels. We fancy the hosts to win by the odd goal this weekend.

It’s a long shot, but:

Alaves have picked up three away league wins this season, and there is no question that the Basque outfit, who have won four of their last five in La Liga, have the credentials to upset the home side in this match. A 2-0 away success can be backed as high as 30/1.
