Rangers vs Kilmarnock Betting Tips, Preview & Predictions

In a sentence: Two sides who both conceded five goals last weekend will be looking to bounce back here.

Last time: Kilmarnock won 1-0 in March, thanks to a goal from former Rangers player Kris Boyd. Football predictions are difficult, but there will probably be more goals this time.

This time: Rangers are 4/9 to pick up the victory, while Kilmarnock are 7/1 and the draw is 4/1.

You might remember: Kilmarnock winning 1-0 at Ibrox in 2012. Dean Shiels got the winner, while Sasa Papac was sent off for the home side.

Betting Tips & Predictions

Alfredo Morelos is Rangers’ top scorer and will look to add to his tally when Kilmarnock visit Ibrox on Saturday

This is a Scottish Premiership preview where the result is not a straightforward choice, as both sides were heavily beaten last weekend. Football prediction can be aided by looking at the form guide and league table, but while Rangers are third and Kilmarnock are fifth, it’s the visitors who have been in better form recently. Here are some football betting tips for the weekend, which should help you with your bet selections.

Rangers are 4/9 to pick up the victory, but their form has been patchy at Ibrox, with three wins and three defeats in their last six league matches on home turf. One of the losses was against Saturday’s visitors too.

Kilmarnock are 7/1 to take the three points, which seems a generous price considering they have the joint-best away form in the division. Killie have won four and only lost one of their last six on the road.

The draw is 4/1. While only two teams in the Scottish Premiership have drawn more games than Kilmarnock in 2017/18, Rangers have drawn the joint-fewest. None of the last 13 league matches at Ibrox have ended in a stalemate, but who were the last side to draw there? Kilmarnock.

Alfredo Morelos is 4/1 to open the scoring, or 13/10 to net at any point. His recent form has not been great, with only two goals in his last 10 appearances for the Gers, but he has scored 14 league goals including six openers this season. Only one player in the division has more than him on either front.

That player is Kilmarnock’s Kris Boyd. He has scored the first goal in seven Scottish top flight matches this season, and has a total of 18 league goals. He’s available at 2/1 to get one here, or 13/2 to break the deadlock as he did when these sides last met.

Scottish Premiership predictions are rarely straightforward where Rangers are concerned, but they will be desperate to bounce back from their heavy Celtic defeat with a win here. They should have enough to take the points.

Predicted Score: Rangers 2 - 1 Kilmarnock

Match Summary

Look out for:

Both teams to score. Since the start of 2016/17, Rangers have featured in 45 league matches where both sides found the net, which is the most in the division. Kilmarnock have only played in five fewer, so a ‘yes’ bet should be part of your both teams to score predictions. It’s available at 28/29.

We fancy:

Over 2.5 goals, at 7/10. Football predictions can be improved with a little research, and just as Rangers lead the way on ‘both teams to score’ matches in the Scottish Premiership, so they do on games with at least three goals.

It’s a long shot, but...

Kilmarnock are 22/1 to win 1-0. Getting football score predictions exactly right is never easy, but Killie are in good form on the road, and their last two wins at Ibrox have been by a 1-0 scoreline.
