In a sentence: QPR host Bolton this weekend, with a six-point lead over their opponents having played one more match.

Last time: The reverse fixture saw a 1-1 draw between the sides, when despite opening the scoring Bolton were unable to keep a clean sheet, with Idrissa Sylla scoring late in the second half.

This time: QPR are evens to win, Bolton 3/1 and a draw is 5/2.

You might remember: A seven goal thriller in this fixture back in 2015. Bolton scored two in the opening 11 minutes, only for QPR to respond two minutes later, and bring the match level just before the half time whistle. Rangers then took the lead through Tjarron Chery, only for Wellington Silva to score in the 85th minute, seemingly earning his side a point. Having dominated possession for much of the game, Bolton were camped within their own area in the remaining time, before Jay Emmanuel-Thomas struck in the 93rd minute to win the game.

Betting Tips & Predictions

QPR’s form at Loftus Road has been unpredictable so far this season

Despite sitting four places below their opponents, Bolton have been in solid form as of late, and will cause a problem for QPR who have been lagging recently. The home side are without a number of key players, and can’t afford another loss.

QPR are priced at evens for the win, and will hope that their home advantage can carry them past the finish line on Saturday. Rangers put in a solid performance against league leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers in their last match, but were ultimately victims of two early goals despite getting at the home side for long periods.

Bolton are 3/1 to win this weekend and are unbeaten in three matches. Their last fixture, a draw against fifth placed Fulham saw them show great strength of character to equalise after going behind in the fourth minute. Much like in their win against Bristol, Bolton were able to get a result, despite having the minority of possession.

A draw is 5/2, and was the result in the reverse fixture. Bolton have been strong defensively in recent weeks, and would be content with a point away from home.

Connor Washington is 13/8 to score anytime for QPR, as he did in their last game against Wolves. Playing as a second striker to Matt Smith, the two have six goals apiece and have formed a strong partnership up top.

Ameobi is 13/5 to score this weekend. Since Medine’s departure, there is a space to be filled in the first XI, and unless Ameobi or Le Fondre take their chances, the large shadow of Victor Anichibe is looming.

Match Summary

1

Look out for:

Counter-attacking play. With two pacey wingers to choose from, Phil Parkinson will rely on soaking up pressure from QPR before hitting them hard and fast. Le Fondre is 13/5 to score anytime.

2

We fancy:

QPR to win and under 2.5 goals scored at 3/1. Neither side is particularly prolific at the moment, and a draw would be a decent result for both.

3

It’s a long shot, but:

Luke Freeman to score twice at 18/1. The attacking midfielder will certainly have a role to play against a deep-lying Bolton side.
