Match Summary

1 Look out for:

With there being no more competitive action for these sides in this round of international football predictions, there is a chance for them to perform under less pressure. Ireland looked poor against Wales, and manager Martin O’Neill is under real scrutiny following that result. With that in mind, he’ll be in need of some positivity. The draw is priced at 13/5 with Sky Bet.

2 We fancy:

Given the low calibre of recent performances from both sides, a football score prediction here is fairly tough to call. Poland do carry a greater threat, but another defeat could spell real trouble for Ireland and O’Neill. A 1-1 draw is at 5/1 with Paddy Power and looks like a low-risk option.

3 It's a long shot, but…

The cards have tended to fly in recent meetings between these two, with 14 yellows and one red. Even though this is an international friendly preview, a dismissal is still a fair shout, given the frustrations in both camps. Therefore, a red card to be shown is a football prediction with real value, at 9/2 with Ladbrokes.

One to Watch: Robert Lewandowski

Despite entering the latter stages of his career, Lewandowski remains one of the deadliest finishers around. It is almost impossible to have an international friendly preview for Poland without mentioning the Bayern Munich striker. He’s at 5/2 with bet365 to score first.

Poland could be without Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski, who scored in their draw with Italy but was later withdrawn with an injury. Captain Robert Lewandowski is expected to start.

Republic of Ireland will be without Stephen Ward, through injury, so Enda Stevens should take his place. Graham Burke and David Meyler could also start.

Poland vs Republic of Ireland Football Betting Tips, Preview & Predictions

Will Poland heap more misery on Ireland and O’Neill?

The management team of Martin O’Neill and Roy Keane faced real criticism after Republic of Ireland’s heavy 4-1 defeat to Wales.

The result added to the issues surrounding the side following the withdrawals of Declan Rice and Harry Arter as rumours of bust-ups with Keane marred the build-up to their trip to Cardiff.

O’Neill must find a way to get fans and players back on board, and a loss in Poland would make it a long break before the next round of games in October.

They will be without veteran striker Jon Walters, as well as Shane Long, for this one – meaning Graham Burke could find himself leading the line.

He scored his first international goal in the victory over the US and with Ireland needing a hero, he will be required to step up.

If you’re eyeing up a wildcard bet in your football bet tips and predictions for this week, the Preston North End forward is at 7/2 to score anytime with William Hill.

Predicted Score: Poland 1 - 1 Republic of Ireland
