Home Nottingham Forest

    03/03/2018 Kick Off:  3:00 pm City Ground V Predicted Score:1 - 0

    Away Birmingham City

      Match Summary

      1 Look out for:

Under 2.5 goals at 71/100. It isn’t a massive price but given how cagey the game is likely to be, should come in.

      2 We fancy:

Nottingham Forest win to nil at 21/10. The Blues cannot score at the moment and have one of the worst goal scoring records in any of the top 4 leagues in England. Forest should be able to seal a narrow win.

      3 It's a long shot, but…

Lee Tomlin to score two or more goals at 12/1. He scored a brace last weekend and has three already in his short stint at Forest. Against this Blues defence, he could continue his good goal scoring form.

      Team News

      Nottingham Forest's Last Six:

        Won: 1 Drawn: 2 Lost: 3

Aitor Karanka has no new injury concerns to contend with and could name a similar side to the one that thrashed QPR 5-2 last weekend.

        Birmingham City's Last Six:

          Won: 1 Drawn: 0 Lost: 5

Isaac Vassell remains out until April and David Davis is a doubt for the game with a knee injury.

Nottingham Forest vs Birmingham City Betting Tips, Preview & Predictions

A Forest win would practically end any relegation fears but pile misery onto Birmingham City

Forest’s big 5-2 away win at QPR at the weekend ended a run of five games without a win in the league and they will be confident of making it two from two against a Birmingham side who have lost their last four league games. At 11/10 Forest are favourites for the win and given they are at home against Blues, that represents good value.

Birmingham sit in the relegation zone, one point off Barnsley in 21st and are in desperate need for a win. At 67/20 they are made clear underdogs and given their current form, you can understand why. They have not scored a goal in four league games and have won just two matches away from home all season. Forest to win the game to nil can be found at 21/10, which looks good value here. Birmingham City have not scored a goal in their last four league games and have conceded 10 goals in that run.

In the last five games between these two sides, on four occasions under 2.5 goals has resulted and Birmingham are the lowest scoring side in the football league. Three of Forest’s last five have seen the same bet come in and three of Birmingham’s last four have also seen under 2.5. Blues will try to keep Forest out and hope to hit them on the counter, so at 71/100, it could be a way to go.

Lee Tomlin has scored three goals for Forest since his deadline day move from Cardiff City, including a brace in last weekend’s big win at QPR. He is 21/10 to score anytime against Birmingham and given how poor they have been, that looks a very good price for him to net again.

Overall, neither side are in good form but this game does represent a chance for the Blues to climb out of the relegation zone. Forest have not been great of late and this will have been a game Birmingham will have looked at to gain a positive result. The draw at 5/2 could be a way to go given that Birmingham might not have enough to beat Forest and the home side would not be disappointed with a point after their massively important win last weekend.

Predicted Score: Nottingham Forest 1 - 0 Birmingham City
