In a sentence: Both Norwich and Reading come into this game on the back of disappointing results in their midweek fixtures.

Last time: After a couple of early goals took the score to 1-1, Cameron Jerome was the match winner for Norwich in the opening stages of the second half when the teams met at the Madejski in September.

This time: Norwich are 23/25 for the win, while Reading are 15/4 and the draw is 5/2.

You might remember: The Canaries flying in this fixture last season. Wes Hoolahan and Alex Pritchard both bagged braces as Norwich smashed Reading 7-1 at Carrow Road last April. It’d be a brave football prediction to bet on a repeat of that result though.

Betting Tips & Predictions

Norwich City and Reading both come into this Sky Bet Championship game in awful form

Today’s Championship preview features two teams who can’t buy a win at the moment. Norwich and Reading have gone 15 games combined without a victory, and both slumped to yet another poor result on Tuesday evening.

Norwich are 23/25 to pick up the three points, although there isn’t much motivation left for doing so. Their poor run has left them 12 points off the play-off places, leaving the Canaries hovering in mid-table obscurity. Their two most recent games were a draw at relegation-threatened Barnsley, and a defeat against a struggling Hull side despite going 3-1 up in the first half.

Reading are 15/4 for the victory, which seems unlikely given the slump they’re in. There’s little shame in defeat to Wolves this season, but Stam’s side were tipped for promotion as part of many people’s Championship predictions at the start of the campaign. They’ve been down the bottom of the table all term though, and had no chance against the league leaders in midweek.

The draw is 5/2 and could be one of the best football betting tips for this fixture. 10 of those 15 winless games the sides have played out have ended with honours even, and there’s little to suggest either side is capable of turning it on in this game.

James Maddison is 13/2 to open the scoring on Saturday, as he did when the teams met earlier in the campaign. He’s Norwich’s top scorer in the Championship with 12 goals to his name, and available at 3/1 to find the net in a home win.

Modou Barrow is 10/1 to break the deadlock, which is one of the more interesting football predictions for this game. He’s Reading’s top scorer this season, and his pace and willingness to run at defenders makes him a threat at the weekend.

Match Summary

1

Look out for:

A win, because they’re hard to find for these two. With so many draws and poor performances of late, any victory’s likely to be hard-fought. A one-goal winning margin is priced at 7/5.

2

We fancy:

Norwich to win and both teams to score at 10/3. Exact football score predictions are tough, but 2-1 to the Canaries is 17/2, rising to 30/1 with Maddison as the first scorer.

3

It’s a long shot, but:

Norwich to win 7-1 is 500/1. Although there might be stronger football betting tips for the weekend, lightning can strike twice, and these odds are huge.
