Betting Tips & Predictions

Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi during the Community Shield at Wembley, London.

Norwich face a tough task to make the fourth round of the FA Cup as they welcome seven-time winners Chelsea to Carrow Road this weekend. The Canaries moved into 13th position in the Championship with a 2-1 win over Millwall on New Year’s Day, but Chelsea are the big favourites to secure a position in round four. It will be their first meeting in the FA Cup since Chelsea won 4-0 in February 2007.

Norwich are 71/10 to win as they look to build on their recent positive run of form. Daniel Farke’s team have picked up seven points from their last three league fixtures, but they have not actually been victorious in the FA Cup since a 3-0 win over Peterborough United in January 2013. It is the league and not the cup competitions that matter most to the Canaries at the moment – that is for sure.

Chelsea are 40/85 to book their spot in the fourth round of the competition. The Blues are seven-time winners of the FA Cup, with their last trophy arriving in 2012. They reached the final of last season’s FA Cup before losing to Arsenal, and are certainly expected to challenge for the trophy again this time around. That said, the Blues have only won one of their last four away matches in the Premier League.

The draw is 19/5, and when considering Norwich’s improved form in recent weeks, it is decent value. Chelsea boss Conte will make a string of changes following Wednesday’s Premier League clash with Arsenal, and Norwich may well fancy their chances of an upset. The last draw between these two teams occurred in May 2014 as the points were shared in a Premier League match at Stamford Bridge.

Cameron Jerome is 21/2 in the first goalscorer market this weekend, and the striker has plenty of experience against top-level opposition. He has only netted once in the league this term, but anything can happen in the cup. Jerome is also available at 20/1 to score twice or more against the English champions.

Michy Batshuayi is 18/5 to register first against Norwich. The Belgian has struggled for Premier League football this season, but has scored three times in three EFL Cup appearances during the 2017-18 campaign. The striker can also be backed at 10/3 to score two or more against the Canaries.

Match Summary

1

Look out for:

Chelsea have conceded in each of their three EFL Cup matches this season. The Blues to win with both teams on the scoresheet is available at 21/10, which is excellent value.

2

We fancy:

Correct score of 3-0 Chelsea is available at 10/1. Conte will make wholesale changes, but Chelsea’s second string have been excellent in the EFL Cup this season. It might well be a long afternoon for the home side.

3

It’s a long shot, but:

Gary Cahill to score two or more goals is available at 80/1. The Chelsea captain netted eight times in all competitions last term, and should start as Conte prepares to mix youth and experience.
