Betting Tips & Predictions

Motherwell have won their last two home games, against Hamilton Academical and Ross County

Motherwell’s recent form has been patchy at best, picking up just three wins out of their last 16 games, two of which came in the past six games and those two were against teams you’d expect them to beat in Hamilton and Ross County. Given their recent run, a loss may be on the cards but with the exception of a few games they only seem to lose by the odd goal, so a 2-1 Partick win is priced at 8/1.

As for the visitors, they come into this one with a good run of wins in their pocket, successfully giving themselves a chance at surviving. However, they have only managed to keep one clean sheet in this run, so if you want both teams to score that is at evens.

Ex Derby County and Wigan striker Conor Sammon is 23/10 to score at any time for the away team, and ex Celtic and Dundee United man Nadir Ciftci is 4/1 to open the scoring.

Sammon himself, who is on loan from fellow SPFL side Hearts, has scored six goals in 22 appearances for Partick this season, so whilst he may not be in blistering form he is still deadly when given the chance in front of goal, meaning a punt on him breaking the deadlock wouldn’t be amiss.

As for Ciftci, who is on loan from Celtic, hasn’t actually scored at all this season during his loan spell at Plymouth Argyle, but in a league where he is familiar with the style of play and has a track record of finding the back of the net, you’d literally want to put money on him to score the opener in his Motherwell debut.

Match Summary

1

Look out for:

New Motherwell signing Stephan Hendrie is 50/1 to score first on his debut so if he’s in the starting line up, this might be worth a go.

2

We fancy:

With Partick in good form but unable to keep a clean sheet, a 2-1 win at 12/1 is what we’d go for, and with how both teams have been playing in recent weeks, that wouldn’t be a shock in the slightest.

3

It’s a long shot, but:

Connor Sammon is 125/1 to get a hat trick this weekend, and it would actually nearly double his goal tally for the season if he does, which is why it is such a long shot.
