Betting Tips & Predictions

Motherwell host Kilmarnock at Fir Park on Saturday

These two sides sit a place apart in the Scottish Premiership table, both with 32 points each and nine points clear of the relegation play-off place. Neither side look like going down and both sides head into this game in good form.

The sides cannot be split in terms of points and the bookies look unable to separate them in terms of the betting odds. The home advantage probably makes Motherwell the slight favourites at 8/5 for the game and they have lost just one of their last five matches. As for the away side, they themselves are in good form, winning four of their last six games in all competitions. At 52/25 they look good value for the win.

It does not look like either team has too much to play for, which can often help ease the pressure on sides and this could potentially help the quality of the game. Looking at it from a betting angle, Kilmarnock have not won a game away from home since the start of December but have beaten Celtic and Rangers in previous weeks, so the ability is there. Four of Kilmarnock’s five games have seen both teams score, and over 2.5 goals has resulted in three of their last five matches in the league.

Motherwell have seen both teams score in three of their last four Premiership matches, so a bet on the same outcome at 19/20 looks like a good way to go here. Kilmarnock are in good goalscoring form also, with 17 goals in eight games, while Motherwell have conceded just one goal at home in the last four games and have won three of those four matches 2-0.

It looks like a difficult one to call but backing either side in this game could be a profitable way to go. However, there is not too much pressure on these two teams, so we can expect goals in this one. Kilmarnock have scored two or more in four of their last six, whilst Motherwell have scored two or more in five of their last seven. The home side to score two or more goals is 8/5 and Kilmarnock to do the same is 19/10.

Match Summary

Look out for:

The draw at 23/10, which could be the way to go here given that both sides are so similar in form and table position.

We fancy:

Over 2.5 goals at 24/19, which looks to be a banker in this one given the form of these two in a goalscoring sense.

It’s a long shot, but:

Motherwell to win 2-0 at 12/1. The Well have won by this scoreline in four of their last seven matches.
