Motherwell vs Aberdeen Betting Tips, Preview & Predictions
In a sentence: Aberdeen will be looking for a positive result which will put them second in the table with six games to go.
Last time: Aberdeen won 1-0 in September, thanks to a goal from Andrew Considine. Football predictions are tough, but a similar result could be on the cards on Tuesday night.
This time: Motherwell are 3/1 to win with Aberdeen at 6/5 and the draw 11/5.
You might remember: Aberdeen winning 7-2 at Pittodrie in February last year. Adam Rooney was the star of the show, as he bagged a hat-trick.
Motherwell's Last Six:
Won: 2 Drawn: 2 Lost: 2
Peter Hartley and Ellis Plummer are injured. Craig Tanner has been out, but may return here, whilst Liam Grimshaw was on the bench on Saturday so will hope to get back into the starting XI for this match.
Aberdeen's Last Six:
Won: 3 Drawn: 2 Lost: 1
Derek McInnes has no missing players to contend with ahead of this match, so will head to Fir Park with a full strength squad.
This is a Scottish Premiership preview where the result looks difficult to call. The teams are side-by-side in the six-game form table, and have both conceded just five goals in that period. Any sensible football prediction for this match will conclude that this is going to be a close run thing.
Motherwell are 3/1 to win, but they have not won any of their past three home matches in the league. They may have lost their last home league meeting with Aberdeen, but they have since won at Pittodrie, and also won a home tie in the League Cup back in September.
Aberdeen are available at 6/5 to get the three points. Their away form has not been good lately though, with just one win in their last five and three defeats in that spell too. However, only the Old Firm have won more away league matches than the Dons have in 2017/18, so they’re certainly capable of a win here.
The draw is priced at 11/5. Aberdeen have drawn the joint-fewest matches in the division, but only Hearts have drawn more home games than Motherwell. With the sides in similar form, this could easily end in a tie.
Curtis Main is 11/2 to open the scoring, or 19/10 to get on the scoresheet at any point. The on-loan forward has scored five goals in his 10 league appearances for Motherwell, and scored against Rangers last time out.
Adam Rooney is the 7/5 favourite to score a goal, and is just 9/2 to net the opener. He hasn’t featured too much recently, but the Aberdeen striker has scored 10 goals in league and cup in 2017/18.
Scottish Premiership predictions can be tricky at times, but this feels like it will be a close match with few goals.
Predicted Score: Motherwell 0 - 1 Aberdeen
Look out for:
One side to draw a blank. Since the start of last season, Aberdeen have featured in the fewest Scottish Premiership matches where both teams scored, and at least one side has drawn a blank in four of Motherwell’s last six games. Both teams to score predictions are rarely easy, but a ‘no’ bet at 20/21 looks worth a look here.
Under 2.5 goals, at 19/25. Football predictions can be improved by a little research, and Motherwell have featured in the second-fewest league games with over 2.5 goals this season. As Aberdeen have seen fewer than three goals in over half of their away matches, we can expect a low-scoring contest on Tuesday night.
It's a long shot, but:
Motherwell to win 2-0, at 18/1. Football score predictions are very difficult to get right, but this was the scoreline when these sides last met, and three of Motherwell’s last four wins at Fir Park have been by two goals to nil.
