Home Millwall

09/02/2018 Kick Off:  7:45 pm The Den V Predicted Score:2 - 2

Away Cardiff City

Match Summary

1 Look out for:

Millwall’s home form. The Lions have made it difficult for some big sides at the Den this season, and they will not be giving Cardiff an easy pass this weekend. Given the goals available in both sides, with the likes of Aiden O’Brien, Lee Gregory, Anthony Pilkington and Joe Ralls all fit and ready to go, a 2-2 draw looks to be a strong option, priced at an interesting 14/1.

2 We fancy:

Pilkington has struggled to maintain a first team spot this season, with injuries and form disrupting his 2017-18 campaign. However he looks to have turned a corner in recent weeks, scoring three goals as an impact sub in 2018. Warnock will be tempted to throw him in from the start against Millwall, and a confident Pilkington is 15/2 to score first at the Den.

3 It's a long shot, but…

Former Arsenal defender Armand Traore signed with Cardiff on a loan deal until the end of the season from Nottingham Forest in January. Warnock could hand him a second start against Millwall this weekend, and the defender is without a goal since April 2014, but you never know and he is priced at 16/1 to score anytime.

Northern Ireland international Conor McLaughlin is the only injury concern for Milwall with a knee problem, and if he misses out Mahlon Romeo will step in. Forward Aiden O’Brien has two goals in his last two Championship appearances.

Cardiff City's Last Six:

Defender Joe Bennett returns to the Cardiff squad after serving a one-game suspension following his red card against Manchester City. Anthony Pilkington should start for the Bluebirds, after coming off the bench to score in the 4-1 win over Leeds United – his third goal in his last four games.

Millwall vs Cardiff City Betting Tips, Preview & Predictions

A view of Millwall’s home ground, the Den

Cardiff are going all out to secure a place in the Championship play-offs this season, and a shot at a return to the top flight for the first time since 2013-14.

However Neil Warnock’s side have been a little inconsistent in recent weeks, with just two league wins in 2018, and plenty of negative coverage of his side’s tactics in their FA Cup fourth round defeat against Premier League leaders City.

Millwall look to be safe from relegation, and currently sit 14th in the Championship. Their home form has also been excellent this season, and they are unbeaten at the Den in all competitions since November 4.

This is a tough one to call, shown by the tight odds being offered by the bookmakers. If Cardiff can draw inspiration from their excellent away win at Leeds last weekend, they may be able to sneak a win, which is priced at 9/5.

But the stubbornness and strong home form of Millwall makes a draw more of a likely outcome, as despite Cardiff’s promotion aspirations, the Lions have already beaten Norwich, Leeds, Reading, Birmingham, Sheffield United, Middlesbrough and QPR at home this season.

A draw looks to be a safe option here, priced at 9/4, and with both sides scoring 14 goals between them in their last three league games, goals should be expected – an over 2.5 goals bet is priced at 11/10.

Predicted Score: Millwall 2 - 2 Cardiff City
