Match Summary

One to Watch: Britt Assombalonga

The forward has built himself a reputation for being one of the best strikers in the Championship, and Boro know that if they want to stand any chance of maintaining their good form and mounting a promotion push back to the Premier League, a lot of the responsibility will fall on the shoulders of Assombalonga.

Most Championship previews will have him down to score at any time, which is 11/8 with bet365, although it’s worth more to go for Assombalonga to score first, priced at 4/1. With two goals in seven games so far, it may not be the start Assombalonga would have wanted, but this game against Bolton could be the perfect chance to kick-start his goalscoring season.

After their loss against Norwich, Tony Pulis may look to make a few changes but none will be due to injuries or suspension as Boro have a fully-fit squad to choose from.

Middlesbrough vs Bolton Wanderers Betting Tips, Preview & Predictions

Middlesbrough welcome Bolton to the Riverside for this midweek Championship fixture

With a tumultuous week over for Bolton, the Trotters make the trip up north to Middlesbrough to face a side that are looking to bounce back from a loss against Norwich this past weekend.

Boro are looking to end their short run of two games without a victory, and bet365 have them down as favourites at 4/9, with a draw priced at 15/4. However, with Bolton at 7/1, it would be naive to rule them out completely.

The Wanderers’ inconsistent form of late has been troubling and a 2-1 home loss to Queens Park Rangers this past weekend wouldn’t have helped the cause. With most Championship predictions going in favour of the home side though, don’t count out a 1-0 away win, priced at 14/1.

While Britt Assombalonga will take the headlines as Boro’s main threat, there are a few more players who could be worth looking at as the first goalscorer. Aden Flint always has a knack of scoring a few, and is priced at 10/1 to break the deadlock.

Former Toulouse and Bordeaux striker Martin Braithwaite has the ability to be a real danger in this division and with odds of 9/2 to score first, it would foolish to not consider putting something on.

Predicted Score: Middlesbrough 2 - 0 Bolton Wanderers
