Match Summary

1 Look out for:

Scorching Sanchez. The Chilean drew rare praise from Mourinho for his conditioning and looks in great shape after a proper pre-season. He’s 9/2 to score two or more goals with BetVictor, and 6/5 to hit the back of the net in the anytime market.

2 We fancy:

An over 3.5 goals football prediction is 13/5 with Betfair. There’s usually a decent amount of goals between these two sides, including a 5-3 and 4-1 since Leicester returned to the Premier League at the start of the 2014-15 season.

3 It's a long shot, but…

Getting football score predictions exactly right is never easy to do, which is why you can get 14/1 with Bet365 on United winning the game 3-1. With Sanchez as the first scorer, the odds increase to 30/1.

One to Watch: Fred

Brazilian midfielder Fred has been United’s biggest summer outlay, and he’s impressed for his new side in their pre-season preparations. With so much speculation around Paul Pogba, Mourinho will hope that the Frenchman stays to form what could be a promising partnership with Fred and Nemanja Matic.

Fred is out at 16/1 with bet365 for the first goal, while he’s priced at 6/1 in the anytime market.

Ex-United player Jonny Evans is an injury doubt for his new side, along with Harry Maguire after his impressive World Cup performances that saw him heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford. Claude Puel also has doubts over Jamie Vardy, Nampalys Mendy and Demarai Gray.

Manchester United vs Leicester City Betting Tips, Preview & Predictions

manchester united football preview

Alexis Sanchez has looked good in pre-season and could be the danger man for Manchester United against Leicester

The wait is finally over as the Premier League returns following a summer of World Cup action. We’re back with a bang thanks to the Friday night football at Old Trafford, which could lead to an exciting set of Premier League predictions. With that said, United fans will hope that Jose Mourinho’s dour demeanour doesn’t affect the way his players perform.

United are 17/35 in your football betting tips for the weekend, and anything less than a win would do little for the manager’s mood. A lack of new arrivals and a US tour where hardly any of his first-team stars were available doesn’t bode well for a potential tilt at the title this year. It remains to be seen whether we’re in for a third-season Mourinho meltdown, but the hosts are still heavy favourites in the opening weekend’s Premier League predictions.

Leicester are 13/2 and will hope that United’s poor pre-season continues into the start of the domestic campaign. The Foxes have added some new faces to their ranks, but keeping hold of Maguire could be their best piece of business this summer. Puel is unlikely to start the English centre-back, though, and it could be the same story for international colleague Vardy. Without those two key players, plus the departed Riyad Mahrez, it’s a tough ask for Leicester.

The draw is 71/20 as part of the best football betting tips for this match, and a point could be the most Leicester can hope for. The Foxes did take a point from Old Trafford en route to winning the Premier League in 2016, but they’ve lost the two games since 4-1 and 2-0. However, a repeat of the 2-2 draw in the last game could be an interesting football prediction at 22/1.

If he starts, Lukaku will be the favourite to open the scoring on Friday night. The striker is priced at 11/5, while Alexis Sanchez – who’s been one of United’s few plus points in the build-up to the new season – is 12/5 to break the deadlock. Kelechi Iheanacho is 6/1, and he could be in line for a place in the line-up if Vardy is absent, with the Englishman available at 5/1.

Predicted Score: Manchester United 3 - 1 Leicester City
