In a sentence: Champions-elect Manchester City welcome outgoing champions Chelsea to the Etihad Stadium for this super Sunday clash.

Last time: In what was a fascinating battle, a superb strike from Man City star Kevin De Bruyne was enough for Pep Guardiola’s side to take all three points from Stamford Bridge.

This time: City are 8/13 for the win with Chelsea at 5/1 and its 16/5 for the draw.

You might remember: During their title winning 2016-2017 season, Antonio Conte’s Chelsea produced an excellent performance as they swept City aside in a 3-1 at the Etihad. Despite falling behind, Chelsea responded with three second half goals the last of which was scored by Eden Hazard following a devastating counter attack.

Manchester City football preview
With five goals in his last four games against Chelsea, Sergio Aguero is the one to watch

Man City return home after a successful week in the nation’s capital. Last Sunday saw them pick up their first trophy of the season after a resounding 3-0 over Arsenal in the Carabao Cup Final. The Citizens then went on to replicate that victory in their Premier League tie on Thursday night against the same opponent. Guardiola’s men are almost out of sight at the top and are fast closing in on the title. With a 16 point gap over second place and only 10 games remaining, City could have the league wrapped up in the next few weeks. The Sky Blues have been imperious all season and their home form makes scary reading for visitors Chelsea. It is now 13 consecutive home wins in the league with City scoring a minimum of twice in each of those wins. It is no surprise City are hot favourites for this one, they are 8/13 to collect another home win.

Chelsea’s season is finely balanced. Sitting 5th in the league they can ill afford a defeat here and allow those above them to open up a gap in the race for the Champions League spots. They come into this one on the back of a loss at rival’s Manchester United, making it three defeats in their last four Premier League matches. The Blues face a huge task in attempting to conquer the Etihad but they do have a reason for optimism. Chelsea have won their last three Premier League away games against sides that started the day top of the table and you can get 5/1 for them to repeat that Sunday.

Everton remain the only side to snatch a point from Manchester’s blue half and that was way back in August. It is 16/5 for Chelsea to become the second side to pick up a draw there.

City hitman Sergio Aguero is favourite to find the net first at 3/1. Aguero has five goals in his last four Premier League games against Chelsea. The Argentine forward is followed by Gabriel Jesus at 7/2, Raheem Sterling at 5/1 and German international Leroy Sane at 6/1. Kevin De Bruyne scored the only goal the last time these two met, he is 15/2 to break the deadlock this time around.

Chelsea star man Eden Hazard is 15/2 for the game’s first goal. The Belgian has scored four times in his last seven appearances against City. Joining Hazard is front-man Alvaro Morata, the former Real Madrid striker is also 15/2 to open the scoring. With three goals in his last three games in-form Willian is 11/1 to bag the opener, the Brazilian has opened the scoring in his sides last two games.

Match Summary

1

Look out for:

Kevin De Bruyne. After six games without a goal the super talented midfield man will want to get back on the score-sheet. It is 10/3 for a KDB goal and a City win.

2

We fancy:

A Man City win and both teams to score at 2/1. City’s impressive goal scoring record at home is well-known but they haven’t had as much success shutting teams out. In their 14 league games at the Etihad the visiting side has scored on nine occasions.

3

It’s a long shot, but:

Sergio Aguero to score and a Manchester City 2-1 win at 50/1. It is 15 goals in 13 home league games so far this season for Aguero and he will be eager to add to that tally whilst also keeping up his positive scoring record against Chelsea.
