In a sentence: La Liga basement side Malaga will look to end their 2017-18 campaign on a positive note when they host high-flying Getafe on Sunday afternoon.

Last time: Getafe recorded a 1-0 win when the two teams met in the Spanish capital earlier this season, with Juan Cala scoring the only goal of the match.

This time: Malaga are 39/19 to collect all three points, with Getafe at 29/20 and the draw available at 12/5.

You might remember: These two teams played out a five-goal thriller at La Rosaleda during the 2014-15 La Liga campaign, with Alvaro Vazquez’s brace for Getafe not enough as the capital outfit suffered a 3-2 defeat.

Malaga host Getafe at La Rosaleda in this weekend’s final round of La Liga fixtures

Malaga will attempt to win their fifth straight home La Liga match against Getafe when the two teams lock horns on the final weekend of the 2017-18 campaign. Malaga might be dropping into the Segunda Division for the 2018-19 season, but they have won each of their last four with Getafe at La Rosaleda, and currently boast a 10-match home unbeaten run against their opponents this weekend. That said, Getafe are flying high in eighth position in the table, and the Madrid outfit have only lost once in La Liga since the start of April, which is certainly worth considering in the football predictions market.

Malaga are 39/19 to triumph as they look to bounce back from three straight defeats. A very disappointing season has seen Malaga collect just 20 points from 37 La Liga matches, and they have been comfortably relegated from the top flight. Four of their five league wins this season have come at La Rosaleda, however, and they recently beat Real Sociedad 2-0 on home soil. That said, Jose Gonzalez’s side have lost six of their last seven in the league, and have conceded nine times in their last three defeats, which is worth considering in the La Liga predictions market.

Getafe are 29/20 to triumph at La Rosaleda this weekend. The Madrid club won four of their five La Liga matches between 15 April and 6 May to move into a strong position, but will enter this game off the back of a 1-0 home defeat to Atletico Madrid on Saturday afternoon. It has been a marvellous campaign for a team that only returned to La Liga by coming through last season’s Segunda Division play-offs though, and they will be looking for their sixth away victory of the season this weekend. If the capital club do manage to finish in the top 10 this term then it will be their highest position at this level of football since the 2009-10 campaign, which is an important point to note in this La Liga preview.

The draw is available at 12/5 as part of the best football betting tips for the weekend. It is certainly worth noting in this La Liga preview that these two teams have not played out a draw in the top flight of Spanish football since February 2011. That said, Getafe have shared the points on six occasions away from home this season, and Malaga will be fired up to give their supporters at least something to cheer on the final weekend of the 2017-18 campaign.

Diego Rolan is 13/2 in the first goalscorer market this weekend, while the 25-year-old can be backed at 9/2 to score at any point during the 90 minutes of action. Rolan has netted five La Liga goals this season, and certainly has the tools to harm Getafe’s defence in this match.

Angel Rodriguez is 6/1 in the first goalscorer market, while the Getafe forward is 4/1 to score at any point during the match. Angel, who came off the bench in the defeat to Atletico last time out, has netted 13 La Liga goals for his Madrid club this season.

Match Summary

Look out for:

Getafe to win both halves is available at a very healthy 33/5. The capital outfit have won four of their last six in the league, while Malaga have lost six of their last seven.

We fancy:

Getafe to win with both teams on the scoresheet is today’s football prediction, and that is available at 18/5. Malaga certainly have enough about them to register this weekend, but we do fancy the visitors to claim all three points as part of our football score predictions.

It’s a long shot, but...

Malaga recorded a 3-0 victory when these two teams last locked horns at La Rosaleda back in February 2016. A repeat of that scoreline this weekend can be backed as high as 40/1 as part of the best football betting tips.
