Liverpool vs Manchester City Betting Tips, Preview & Predictions

In a sentence: The Premier League title race may be almost a done deal for Manchester City but now they face their sternest test against a Liverpool side who have caused them bloody nose once already this season.

Last time: The Manchester City stars head to Anfield for the second time this year after heading there in January in a Premier League clash. Arguably the game of the season ensued as Liverpool raced into a 4-1 lead. City pulled it back to 4-3 but could not find the equaliser as they suffered defeat for the one and only time in the league so far this term.

This time: Liverpool are 19/10 to win with Man City at 7/5 and the draw 12/5.

You might remember: Remarkably, you have to go all the way back to 2003 for the last time Manchester City beat Liverpool at Anfield. A brace from a certain Nicolas Anelka meant the boys in blue came away 2-1 winners in the Premier League.

Betting Tips & Predictions

Is Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah the world’s best player on current form?

The Champions League quarter-final gets underway with the battle of the North West of England as Anfield hosts the first leg in this vital encounter with today’s football prediction picking out a fraught affair.

The stage is no bigger as two of England’s most entertaining sides meet in a Champions League quarter-final first leg that is a tricky one for the latest football predictions to call. Both sides have talent in abundance with the Citizens boasting world class players in almost every position and Liverpool with arguably the world’s best player on current form in Mohamed Salah. It is all systems go with our Champions League preview expecting excitement aplenty.

Liverpool are 19/10 to win the match and that could prove to be one of the best football betting tips of all. Remarkably the reds are unbeaten at Anfield against City in the last 16 games and are the only team to have beaten Guardiola’s men in the league this Premier League campaign.

Manchester City are 7/5 to win but as mentioned their record in Liverpool is less than impressive. However, a two-legged affair is a different tactical proposition than a league match and one of the Champions League predictions for this contest is for an all-out attack from the away side as they seek as many away goals as possible.

The draw is 12/5 and which looks one of the best football score predictions in a result that you sense neither side would be too disappointed with even if the score draw gives the advantage to City. The last time the pair played a game outside of the Premier League was the 2016 League Cup final in which after 90 minutes the match ended in a draw with City going on to win on penalties.

Over 2.5 goals is 8/13 and you do not need to be an expert to see why that makes sense. The pair are the two highest scorers in the Premier League this season with 88 goals for City and 75 for Liverpool and although the Champions League is a different kettle of fish, you cannot simply turn off the attacking prowess of these two teams.

Mohamed Salah to score anytime is 5/4 and it would be madness to pass that up. Salah scored once again at the weekend against Crystal Palace to take his tally to a whopping 29 league goals this term and it seems whether its for club or country, Salah cannot stop finding the back of the net.

Predicted Score: Liverpool 2 - 2 Manchester City

Match Summary

1

Look out for:

An action-packed second half. With essentially four 45 minutes to play before a victor is determined, traditionally the first 45 minutes of any two-legged affair sees the least action and although it will be entertaining, expect the game to ignite in the second half. For the game to be a draw at half-time you can get 11/8 and that is a smart way to go.

2

We fancy:

A double chance of Liverpool or the draw is at 4/7. Everyone has a bogey team and for some reason, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool just seem to have the edge over Guardiola’s chargers. Coupled with the fact that City have not won at Anfield since 2003, one of our best football predictions is that Pep and co will be happy to get Liverpool back to Anfield still at close quarters in the tie with the insurance of a double chance to the punter.

3

It’s a long shot, but:

Liverpool to win 4-3 again is 66/1. This is not the Premier League so expect slightly tighter tactics but having said that one thing we have learnt from these two this season is they are both highly unpredictable.
