In a sentence: Play-off hopefuls Bristol City travel to struggling Leeds United this weekend in the Championship at Elland Road.

Last time: Leeds won the reverse fixture back in October 3-0 away from home, with a brace from Samu Saiz helping the Whites along the way.

This time: Leeds are 7/4 for the win, while Bristol are 19/10 and the draw is 12/5.

You might remember: The last time Bristol beat Leeds away from home. It was all the way back in 1979, when they were 3-1 victors, so you’ll need a good memory though.

Leeds take on Bristol at Elland Road in the Championship this weekend

Leeds and Bristol are both sides who have really struggled for form since the turn of the year, and both are desperate for a win to get their seasons back on track.

Bristol City still remain in the Championship play-off positions but have won just one game in their last seven league games and are travelling to a ground where they have not won since 1979, and against a team they have beaten just once in the last 11 meetings. City are priced up at 19/10 and come up against a Leeds side who are also struggling for wins.

Leeds sit in 11th position, eight points away from the play-off spots and without a win in any competition since Boxing Day. United have conceded four goals in each of their last two matches at Elland Road and have scored more than one goal just once in their last eight games. At 7/4 they are perhaps a bit short to back them given their form, but this is a game both sides will fancy their chances of winning.

Scoring goals has been an issue for both sides since 2018 began, and under 2.5 goals at 15/16 represents how the bookmakers see this game going. Leeds have managed just five goals in their five Championship games since 1 January, whilst Bristol have scored six in six Championship games, three of those coming against Sunderland at the weekend.

Both teams have scored in just one of Bristol’s last six Championship games and two of Leeds’ last five games at home. A bet against both teams scoring then at 6/5 looks a good shout for this one.

Bristol’s current form and their extremely poor record at Elland Road means Leeds will believe they can win this game. Bristol know they can ill-afford to continue this form if they wish to reach the play-offs this season, so avoiding a defeat is key here. The draw at 12/5 looks a good proposition in the circumstances, especially as this game is a tough one to call.

Match Summary

Look out for:

Both teams not to score at 6/5, which would have paid out in five of Bristol’s last six fixtures, and three of Leeds’ last five home games.

We fancy:

The draw at 12/5, which looks like good value here given how badly each side needs to end their poor runs. Bristol have not won at Elland Road for 39 years and generally do not have a good record against Leeds, but the form of the home side is bad too.

It’s a long shot, but:

Bristol to win and over 3.5 goals at 8/1 could be worth a few quid, seeing as Leeds have conceded four in their last two games and lost both of those. Bristol have shown they are capable of great things, so they could turn up this weekend.
