In a sentence: Lazio host Dynamo Kyiv at the Stadio Olimpico in the last 16 of the Europa League.

Last time: This will be the first time that the two teams have played each other, so we’ll break new ground in Rome on Thursday.

This time: Lazio are 2/5 for the win, while Dynamo Kyiv are 15/2 and the draw is 4/1.

You might remember: The famous Stadio Olimpico was rebuilt for the 1990 World Cup and held the final of the competition. Home to both Lazio and Roma, it held the Champions League final back in 2009 when Barcelona beat Manchester United.

Betting Tips & Predictions

Lazio forward Ciro Immobile has been in sensational form and already has 32 goals this season

There’s no doubt that Lazio come into this tie as clear favourites. I Biancocelesti may be some 17 points off the top of Serie A, and have suffered a couple of disappointing results of late, but Dynamo Kyiv are hardly setting the Ukrainian Premier League alight either.

Lazio are 2/5 to pick up a victory which would go some way to soothing the pain of their recent defeats. Paulo Dybala scored a 93rd minute winner for Juventus against Inzaghi’s side at the weekend, while Gennaro Gattuso’s AC Milan knocked them out of the Coppa Italia on penalties in the game before.

Dynamo Kyiv are 15/2 for the win, which would be an excellent result for them to try to defend in the return leg. Six points behind Shakhtar Donetsk in the league, a good Europa League run could be great for morale, but damaging to their title bid as they try to recapture the crown they lost to Shakhtar last season.

The draw is 4/1 and could be the most the visitors can hope for as they look to take a positive result back to the Ukraine with them. Khatskevich’s side secured a 1-1 draw in Athens against AEK in the last round, and a repeat of that scoreline is priced at 17/2.

Ciro Immobile is the 10/3 favourite to break the deadlock on Thursday. The Italian forward has plundered an incredible 32 goals in 34 games so far this season, and he’s 4/1 to score two or more in this first leg.

Dieumerci Mbokani is Dynamo’s top scorer with 10 goals in the campaign to date. He’s 12/1 to open the scoring in this one, or 4/1 to hit the back of the net anytime in the 90 minutes.

Match Summary

1

Look out for:

Goals. Lazio are the top scorers in Serie A, and if they decide to go all out to secure a big advantage then we could be in for a goal fest. With that in mind, an over 3.5 goals bet is 2/1, while it’s 9/2 for over 4.5 goals in the game.

2

We fancy:

Lazio to win and both teams to score at 11/5. No team in the top half of Serie A has conceded more goals than I Biancocelesti, and if they really go for goals then Dynamo could get some chances on the break.

3

It’s a long shot, but:

Immobile to score first and Lazio to win 3-1 at 30/1. The forward is in red hot form this season, and he’s the favourite to open the scoring. With both teams capable of sharing a few goals, this bet looks pretty tempting.
