Away Villarreal CF

Match Summary

1 Look out for:

Calleri is likely to be back in the side for this game, after missing the defeat to Celta Vigo last weekend, and he will be the hosts main goal threat.

The former West Ham striker is their top scorer this season, with seven goals in La Liga so far, and he has two goals in his last two games.

He is 11/2 to score first against Villarreal.

2 We fancy:

Neither side are in great recent form, and both will have to work harder if they are to achieve their respective aims of avoiding relegation and finishing in the top four.

With Villarreal struggling for goals, they will be happy to pick up a draw at a difficult away ground to visit – with Barcelona drawing here a fortnight ago.

Given the expected tightness of the contest, a 1-1 draw looks to be a good shout at 11/2.

3 It's a long shot, but…

Two of Las Palmas’ last three goals have come from the penalty spot, both converted by Calleri, one of them securing a valuable point against Barcelona.

A penalty could be crucial in this game, and given Calleri’s recent record you would back him to score.

A spot kick to be awarded in this game is at an intriguing 5/2.

Team News

UD Las Palmas' Last Six:

Won: 1 Lost: 2 Drawn: 3

Las Palmas’ only confirmed injury absentee is veteran midfielder Gabriel Penalba. Striker Calleri missed their last game with a minor injury, but he is expected to return for this encounter.

Villarreal CF's Last Six:

Won: 1 Lost: 4 Drawn: 1

Villarreal could be facing an injury crisis in midfield with three players struggling to be fit. Denis Cheryshev, Javi Fuego and Samu Castillejo are all doubtful for the trip to the Canaries. Roberto Soriano, Manu Trigueros and Rodrigo could start as a midfield three if they are ruled out.

UD Las Palmas vs Villarreal CF Betting Tips, Preview & Predictions

Villarreal travel to relegation-threatened Las Palmas looking to shore up their place in next season’s Europa League

Las Palmas are essentially locked in a battle with Levante to avoid the last remaining relegation spot in La Liga, and Paco Jemez’s side are making a real fist of avoiding the drop.

After a poor run of form over Christmas, Las Palmas have lost just three of their last seven games – not fantastic form, but an improvement on their end of 2017 spell.

Villarreal are the most out of form side in the top six, and they will be mindful of the upturn in form of both Eibar and Girona – who they lost 2-0 at home to last weekend – just below them.

The Yellow Submarine crashed out of the Europa League at the hands of Lyon, and they have lost four of their last six games in the league.

This looks to be an ideal scenario for Las Palmas to get some points on the boards, up against a shaky Villarreal side, but they are struggling for consistency themselves, and a draw – priced at 12/5 – looks a safer bet.

Both sides are also struggling for goals as well as points in recent matches, with Villarreal scoring just twice in their last five games in all competitions and Las Palmas scoring three in the same run.

With that in mind this could well be a low scorer, with an under 2.5 total goals bet at 5/6, and under 3.5 goals bet at 1/3.

Predicted Score: UD Las Palmas 1 - 1 Villarreal CF
