Match Summary

1 Look out for:

Wing play. With Scotland playing a 3-5-2 formation, the flanks will be instrumental in both the attacking and defensive phases of play. If Israel can push their wingbacks forward, they may just be able to find space, but they are just as likely to be punished from the wide spaces.

One to Watch: Andrew Robertson

The Liverpool full-back has enjoyed a meteoric rise over the last two seasons, being confirmed as Scotland captain last month. Jurgen Klopp’s distaste for the Nations League is clear evidence of how highly he values Robertson. Pushed further forward by McLeish, the skipper will be out for goals rather than assists on Tuesday.

Andi Herzog may make wholesale changes after his side’s heavy defeat to Northern Ireland. Dia Saba is pushing for a start up front while further back, Nissam Kapiloto is hoping to be handed a shot.

Jon McLaughlin and Scott McKenna are both in contention for starts against Israel, as is Oli McBurnie. Unfortunately for the Swansea striker, Alex McLeish has no shortage of forwards, with Steven Naismith impressing against Albania.

Israel vs Scotland Betting Tips, Preview & Predictions

How will Scotland fare without their No 9 Leigh Griffiths against Israel?

Scotland travel to Israel on Tuesday with the intention of making it back-to-back Nations League wins. Both sides will consider the competition a valuable route into Euro 2020 but need to do well in order to do so.

Israel are 29/20 to win in this Nations League preview, despite their poor start to the competition. Andi Herzog has far from locked down his starting XI and may be more tempted to use the following games to experiment, which would play right into Scotland’s hands.

Scotland are 2/1 to win and another three points would really boost their hopes of qualifying for the European Championship. Their victory over Albania may not have been unexpected, but it was no less impressive and McLeish will be hoping his side carry on in the same vein.

The draw is 21/10 and would be an acceptable outcome for both sides. Israel need to stop the rot after a poor run of results, while an away point would not be scoffed at.

Steven Naismith is 10/3 to score and may have gained favour following his goal against Albania. An old-school poacher but also capable creatively, the former Everton attacker provides the perfect target for Liverpool’s Andy Robertson.

Tomer Hemed is 13/8 to score and deadly when provided with service. Scotland have far from the tightest defence, with Kieron Tierney preferring to look forward rather than back.

Predicted Score: Israel 1 - 0 Scotland
