Nations League predictions point to this being a tight, low-scoring affair. Wales do not need to win and playing on the counter-attack suits them, while Ireland will be happy to keep the scores level for as long as possible. You can get 13/8 for under 1.5 goals with bet365.

Ryan Giggs is sweating over the fitness of star man Gareth Bale and will give him every chance of making this game. Ethan Ampadu and Chris Mepham have been ruled out through injury. Gwion Edwards and Kieron Freeman have been added to the squad to replace the injured duo.

Republic of Ireland vs Wales Football Betting Tips, Preview & Predictions

Whether or not Gareth Bale plays is set to have a major bearing on this game

A tough game to call on the football predictions front, this is a crunch game in group four and one that the Republic of Ireland simply must win if they want to avoid the prospect of relegation.

Home team Ireland come into this game off the back of a credible draw at the Aviva with Denmark and will no doubt take confidence from that result. Martin O’Neill’s team were on the receiving end of a three-goal defeat when these two teams met in September and the Green Army will be out to put the record straight. Ireland have hardly been free-scoring in recent matches, but if they can get one then it may be enough to win this game. Ireland start as 8/5 favourites.

Wales warmed up for Ireland in the toughest possible way with a friendly against Spain. The weekend defeat against La Roja made it two on the spin for Ryan Giggs’s team, but they do have recent good memories of playing against Ireland. The fitness worry surrounding Gareth Bale is the big news in the build-up and his presence – or lack of it – could swing this game. The Welsh do not need to win on Tuesday and could look to lock the game out and take a point. However, if superstar Bale is playing you wouldn’t be surprised to see them win. The Dragons start at 2/1.

As previously mentioned, this will no doubt be a tight game and is unlikely to be a feast of attacking football. A draw on Tuesday would come as no surprise and is one worth considering for your football prediction. The stalemate is 19/10.

No prizes for guessing who is favourite to score the first goal – Gareth Bale is priced at 9/2. No goalscorer is well placed at 11/2, with the likes of Callum Robinson and Sam Vokes following on at 6/1.

Predicted Score: Republic of Ireland 1 - 0 Wales
