Ipswich Town’s Portman Road ground will host this Sky Bet Championship game

Burton Albion travel to Ipswich Town knowing that time could be running out on their stay in the Championship. They are just three points off survival, despite being bottom of the league, but know they can ill-afford to lose more ground on the teams above them.

Ipswich start the game as favourites at 17/20 and will be expecting to make it two wins in a row after last weekend’s 2-0 victory over Sunderland away from home. Their comfortable win ended a poor seven-match run in which they won just once, and had seen the Tractor Boys slip away from the play-off picture. Burton have won just six games all season and are the league’s second-lowest goal scorers, only finding the net 24 times in total.

Burton are valued at 39/10 for this one and are considered underdogs here. Their away form is better than their record at home, however, which will provide some hope for them in this game. Albion have actually won three of their last five away games but did suffer a 3-2 loss at Aston Villa last weekend. On this form, the odds on them could be a tempting proposition.

Looking at Ipswich’s record at home, only one of their last six games has seen over 2.5 goals so a bet on there being less than this at 77/100 looks a good shout for this one. Only one of their last six at home finished with both teams scoring, so a bet against both sides finding the back of the net at 37/40 is another possible option to look at. However, since the turn of the year, there’s been over 2.5 goals in all of Burton’s five league matches.

Given the kind of form the Brewers are in, especially away from home, and the fact Ipswich don’t concede too many goals, the draw at 13/5 looks like a decent value bet. Burton cannot afford to lose this game so a point would at least keep them in the picture to stay up this season.

Match Summary

Look out for:

The draw at 13/5. A point would not be a terrible result for Burton and their recent away form gives them a chance of getting a draw.

We fancy:

Over 2.5 goals at 6/5. All of Burton’s last five games have seen over 2.5 goals and given the importance of the game to Albion, there could be goals.

It’s a long shot, but:

Draw/Burton half time/full time at 10/1. The Brewers’ away form is good and Ipswich sit quite comfortably in mid-table, so the visitors might be more driven to win this game. A tight affair could be settled in the second half, as Burton look for a big three points.
