One to Watch: Gwion Edwards

The Welshman has started life brightly in East Anglia after making the step up from League One with Peterborough. Edwards has two goals from his first six appearances, bagging five minutes in to his Town debut against Blackburn before endearing himself to the natives with the opening effort against bitter foes Norwich. The 25-year-old has been the standout summer signing and the belief is he still has plenty to offer. Skillful and deceptively quick, Edwards could soon find himself on Ryan Giggs’ radar for the national side and is 10/3 to net anytime and continue his impressive early form.

This Championship preview begins with 21st-placed Hull City. The hosts have won just once from six matches and appear destined for a long season staving off relegation. Boss Nigel Adkins is expected to ring the changes with Will Keane pushing for a starting role. The former Manchester United youth graduate has endured a miserable three years battling countless injuries but is well on his way to eclipsing last term’s haul of nine appearances in what would be his fifth league match of the campaign. Keane could link up with one-time England international Fraizer Campbell who has two goals to his name.

Visitors Ipswich Town have also struggled and find themselves in the bottom three. Town boss Paul Hurst arrived to much fanfare in the summer after his exploits with Shrewsbury Town but is under early pressure to turn things around. The 43-year-old was denied victory in the grudge match against Norwich and needs to get a win on the board. Hurst has been lifted by the return of fan favourite Jonathan Walters, who arrived from parent club Burnley at the end of August.

Hull City vs Ipswich Town Betting Tips, Preview & Predictions

Will Hull win at home for the first time this season?

Home side Hull City flirted with the drop last term but ultimately finished eight points clear. Despite their disappointing showing, the Tigers were amongst the division’s best goalscorers with Abel Hernandez, Jarrod Bowen and Kamil Grosicki all contributing respectable numbers that should have amounted to more. Defensively, Hull shipped a whopping 70 goals and this is an area Adkins needs to address if the Northern based club are to have a relatively comfortably year. Elsewhere, travelling Ipswich Town also need to improve but have the experience to cement a top-half spot.

Championship football predictions reveal the Tigers at 11/10 to win this early season six-pointer. Hull claimed maximum points on seven occasions at the KCOM last year, a figure nearly double than that on the road, and a clash against a winless Ipswich could be the perfect tonic to begin their ascent up the table.

Further Championship football predictions show Town at 5/2 to break their duck. Hurst’s men haven’t had much luck so far but the young boss remains confident of turning things around and can equally be quietly confident.

The draw is 23/10 in the latest football betting predictions market and has good value. Both are likely to start tentatively and it is conceivable they struggle to break through.

Campbell is 9/2 to open proceedings in this Championship preview and will almost certainly feature from the off. The journeyman forward has never been prolific but has started this season reasonably for the Tigers.

Opposing striker Walters is 13/2 in the same market and will always be a handful. The Irishman still has a year or two left in the tank and remains a threat in the six yard box.

Predicted Score: Hull City 1 - 1 Ipswich Town
