In a sentence: Hull host Norwich at the KCOM on Saturday, with the threat of relegation still hanging over the Tigers.

Last time: Nelson Oliveira rescued a point for Norwich with a 96th minute equaliser when the teams met at Carrow Road in October, cancelling out a goal from Nouha Dicko on the half hour mark.

This time: Hull are 8/5 for the win, while Norwich are 2/1 and the draw is 23/10.

You might remember: The last campaign where both of these teams were in the same division. It was the 2013/14 season, with both sides winning their home games against each other 1-0.

Hull City play Norwich City at the KCOM Stadium in the Championship on Saturday, with both teams looking to get back to winning ways

Both of these teams come into this game on Saturday on the back of disappointing results in midweek. A late rally wasn’t enough to save Hull from falling to a 2-1 defeat at home to Millwall, while Norwich were held to a goalless draw against Nottingham Forest at Carrow Road.

Hull are 8/5 for the victory, which would surely pull them further away from the relegation zone considering 22nd-placed Birmingham face a tough trip to automatic promotion-chasing Cardiff. With the Tigers struggling to put a winning run together this season, Nigel Adkins needs to continue picking up the odd victory to ensure safety, and this is a great opportunity to do just that.

Norwich are 2/1 to take all three points back to East Anglia, although they haven’t been winning too many games of late. They’ve drawn their last five Championship fixtures, so Daniel Farke’s side will be a tough nut for the Tigers to crack. The Canaries were still in with a shout of the play-offs before their winless run, but they’re now 10 points behind sixth-placed Middlesbrough with their season in danger of petering out.

The draw is 23/10, and with the odds so close all round, plus the run Norwich are on, it could be the best bet for the weekend. The teams shared a 1-1 draw earlier in the campaign, and the bookmakers have a repeat of that result as the most likely scoreline in this game, with odds of 11/2.

After his late consultation against Millwall on Tuesday, Abel Hernandez is the 11/2 favourite to open the scoring in this one. Oliveira was the last-gasp hero for the Canaries in the first meeting of the season between these two, and he’s 13/2 in the first goalscorer market at the weekend.

Match Summary

Look out for:

A tight affair. Even if the run stretches back to 2008, none of the last six games between these two have yielded any more than two goals. An under 2.5 goals bet in this one is priced at 8/11.

We fancy:

Hull to win to nil at 16/5. Only three teams have scored fewer goals than Norwich this season, and the Canaries are hovering in mid-table security. The Tigers are 7/1 to make it three 1-0 home wins out of four in this fixture.

It’s a long shot, but:

Hull are 14/1 to win from behind. The Lions caught the Tigers napping with a goal in the first minute on Tuesday, but Norwich aren’t in the same form as Millwall and the hosts will have a better chance of rescuing the game if they go behind again.
