In a sentence: Hibernian face Aberdeen this weekend in a Scottish Premiership match pitting fourth against second.

Last time: Aberdeen won the reverse fixture comprehensively with a 4-1 victory at Pittodrie stadium. A hattrick from Gary Mackay-Steven on the day did the damage, with Graham Shinnie scoring beforehand, and Athony Stokes grabbing a consolation towards the final whistle.

This time: Hibernian are 6/4 to win, Aberdeen 9/5 and a draw 23/10.

You might remember: The last time Hibernian beat Aberdeen in the Premiership was in 2011thanks to a late goal from Leigh Griffiths.

Betting Tips & Predictions

Hibs’ recent home form has been decidedly mixed but they beat Motherwell last time out

The eight-point gap in the league between Hibernian and Aberdeen is representative of the sides’ form over the past few weeks. However, a win for Lennon’s side would drastically reduce the gap, and could say the Dons slip into third place.

Hibernian are 6/4 to win, having not beaten Aberdeen at home in three years. They have, however, only lost once in their last seven league games, and have finally started to improve on their one goal per game average.

Aberdeen are 9/5 to take all three points and will come into the game with history, form and league standing to their advantage. In Adam Rooney they have a striker in good form, having scored three in his last three games, and they will come into the game in high confidence having won their past four games.

A draw is 23/10 and would be wholly unsatisfactory for both sides. Anything other than a win would allow Rangers to overtake Aberdeen, whilst Hibernian would be better off risking a loss to get a win, with their league standing safe.

Florian Kamberi is 2/1 to score for Hibs, having marked his debut with a goal . The French forward is an exciting prospect for Lennon’s side, and is desperate to make a case to start regularly.

Adam Rooney is 2/1 to score anytime, and leads the scoring charts for Aberdeen. The former Stoke City man is in good form, and will be a constant threat for his side.

Match Summary

Look out for:

McGinn’s goals.  The 23-year-old Scott has scored five from midfield for Hibernian, including two in his last four games. He’s 12/1 to score first.

We fancy:

Aberdeen to win and both teams to score at 5/1. Both sides offer a threat going forwards, and will be keen to win, however, Aberdeen are the in-form side and should be able to push through the win.

It’s a long shot, but:

Kamberi to score two or more 14/1. The forward provides a different kind of threat for his side, one that Aberdeen may well struggle with.
