Match Summary

One to Watch: Steven Naismith

Steven Naismith missed a penalty against Livingston last weekend as Hearts dropped points for the first time in the Scottish Premiership this season.

Naismith’s failure to convert from the spot proved costly, but the on-loan Norwich City attacker has been in excellent form for Hearts during the 2018-19 campaign.

Indeed, the Scotland international has managed eight goals in 10 appearances in all competitions, including five goals and three assists in six Scottish Premiership matches.

Naismith will be desperate to return to the scoresheet against St Johnstone, and the 32-year-old is at 43/10 in the first goalscorer market with 888sport as part of our Scottish Premiership predictions.

Hearts vs St Johnstone Betting Tips, Preview & Predictions

Table-topping Hearts host St Johnstone at Tynecastle with an unbeaten record to protect

Hearts will look to stretch their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership table when they welcome St Johnstone to Tynecastle Park this weekend.

The Jam Tarts were held to a goalless draw by Livingston last time out, but have made a fine start to the 2018-19 campaign, and currently sit five points clear of second-placed Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership table. Hearts will welcome a St Johnstone side that have collected eight points from their six matches to sit eighth amid a decent start, but they were thumped 5-1 by Rangers in the Scottish Premiership last weekend.

Hearts are 7/10 as part of the best football betting tips for the weekend. Craig Levein’s side, as mentioned above in this Scottish Premiership preview, are currently five points clear of second-placed Rangers at the top of the table. The Jam Tarts have a six-point lead over sixth-placed Celtic, meanwhile, and have only conceded twice in the league this term. It has been a fine start from the team that finished down in sixth position in the Scottish Premiership last season.

St Johnstone are 4/1 to collect all three points this weekend. As mentioned above in this Scottish Premiership preview, the Saints have taken eight points from their six matches to sit in eighth position in the Scottish Premiership. St Johnstone went unbeaten in the league between August 12 and September 15, but were thumped 5-1 at Rangers last weekend. Tommy Wright’s team also suffered a 1-0 defeat when they last travelled to Hearts in the Scottish Premiership, and have not actually won a league fixture away to their opponents this weekend since March 2016.

The draw is 13/5 as part of the best football betting tips. The last draw between these two teams occurred at the home of St Johnstone in December 2017, and they last shared the points at Hearts in November 2016. St Johnstone will certainly take heart from Livingston’s performance against Hearts last weekend, meanwhile, and there is no question that the Saints would be pleased with a point from this match.

Predicted Score: Hearts 1 - 0 St Johnstone
