In a sentence: Two teams who firmly believe they should be plying their trade in the Premier League face off on Saturday, with Fulham and Aston Villa both very much in the hunt for promotion this season.

Last time: John Terry opened the scoring with his first Villa goal when the teams met in October. Stefan Johansen equalised for Fulham on the stroke of half time, before Albert Adomah bagged the winner for Steve Bruce’s side early in the second period.

This time: Fulham are 6/5 for the win, while Aston Villa are 13/5 and the draw is 27/10.

You might remember: The last time the teams played each other in the top flight, which was at Villa Park in April 2014. Kieran Richardson scored first on the hour, before Grant Holt’s leveller 10 minutes later. The stage was set for Colombian striker Hugo Rodallega to seal the win for Fulham just a few minutes from time.

Betting Tips & Predictions

Fulham and Aston Villa go head to head at Craven Cottage in this highly anticipated Championship game

Both Fulham and Aston Villa come into this game in excellent form, and it’s difficult to separate the two sides in this crucial Championship clash. The Cottagers are unbeaten in their last nine league games, while Villa have won their last seven.

Fulham are 6/5 to pick up a valuable three points, which would cement their position in the play-off places and bring them to within four points of Saturday’s visitors. Their draw at struggling Bolton last weekend brought a halt to a run of five straight wins, and with just three points to spare in the hunt for the play-offs, the hosts will be desperate to get straight back to winning ways.

Aston Villa are 13/5 to take the spoils back to the Midlands, and back up their mighty win against local rivals Birmingham on Sunday. Experienced boss Bruce will be well aware of the pitfalls the play-offs can pose, and his side are gunning for automatic promotion. Victory at the home of one of their main rivals would be a massive statement with 15 games of the season remaining.

The draw is 27/10 and could represent decent value for an outright bet considering the form both teams are in. Fulham have lost only twice since early November, while Villa have suffered just three defeats in the same period. The Cottagers have only failed to score once in their last 15 Championship games, while Villa have 15 goals in their six games since the turn of the year, so a goalless draw looks unlikely. A 1-1 scoreline is priced at 6/1, while the odds on a 2-2 result are 14/1.

Aboubakar Kamara is the 11/2 favourite to score the first goal of the game for the hosts, while on-loan striker Aleksandar Mitrovic is 6/1 to open his Fulham account in breaking the deadlock. Villa frontman Lewis Grabban, also on loan from a Premier League side and looking for his first goal for his new club, is 6/1 to score first too.

Match Summary

1

Look out for:

Sess. Steve Bruce signed Stephane Sessegnon when he was Sunderland manager, but the Villa boss needs to keep an eye out for namesake Ryan on Saturday. The exciting youngster has 11 goals so far this season, and is 7/1 to open the scoring in this one.

2

We fancy:

Both teams to score at 10/13. These two have scored 100 goals between them so far this term, and there will be lots of players on show who are capable of getting on the scoresheet. An over 3.5 goals bet is 12/5, while it’s 23/4 for over 4.5 goals.

3

It’s a long shot, but:

There’s a lot riding on this game which means there could be plenty of exciting action. Villa to receive over 3.5 cards in winning the game, with over 2.5 goals in total plus over 7.5 corners for Fulham is priced at 60/1.
