Deportivo vs Malaga Betting Tips, Preview & Predictions

In a sentence: La Liga basement clubs Deportivo and Malaga battle it out in a relegation six-pointer.

Last time: Malaga emerged victorious from a five-goal classic after Borja Baston netted late on for the Andalusians, as the sides exchanged goals throughout the encounter.

This time: The hosts are 10/11 to secure a priceless win, with Malaga at 3/1 and the draw 12/5.

You might remember: Depor club legend Diego Tristan. The Spaniard struck twice in the 2001-2002 Champions League group stage against Manchester United at Old Trafford. The result ensured his side won both matches between the clubs and Depor deservedly went through as group winners.

Betting Tips & Predictions

The Riazor will host this La Liga encounter between Deportivo and Malaga

Depor are without a league win since mid-December and have looked short in every department this season. The obvious issue has been the lack of goals but the 61 conceded is the highest in the division alongside fellow strugglers Las Palmas, and a repeat of last term’s 16th-placed finish looks extremely unlikely on current form.

Travelling party Malaga find themselves 11 points adrift of safety with just eight fixtures remaining. The Andalusians have shipped 45 strikes, a reasonable enough figure considering their plight, but have only bagged 17 goals and this will be why Jose Gonzalez’ squad ultimately go down.

Football predictions for this showdown include Depor at 10/11 to seal a crucial victory, putting pressure on Las Palmas and Levante directly above them. The Galicians have only won three of their 14 matches all term on home soil and if this outcome came to fruition again it would almost certainly spell the end for Malaga in Spain’s top flight.

Further La Liga predictions for this battle highlight Malaga at 3/1, and the Andalusians are in last chance saloon territory. Malaga simply cannot afford any more slip-ups and a triumph on Friday night would see back-to-back wins recorded for the first time all year.

The draw is 12/5 and benefits neither club. It is in the interests of both to play for maximum points, with the gap above the drop line potentially increasing over the next game week.

Top scorer Florin Andone is 43/10 to open proceedings in this La Liga preview and has been a standout performer in a poor season for Depor. The forward has linked well with talented winger Emre Colak and the side look a better outfit when both are on the field.

Chory Castro is 13/2 in the same market and was the match winner when Malaga faced Villarreal last weekend. The Uruguayan accounts for four of the 17 goals the Andalusians have scored.

Predicted Score: Deportivo de La Coruna 2 - 1 Malaga CF

Match Summary

Look out for:

Depor to start quickly. Seedorf’s side are on home soil and if they have any aspirations of staying up, need to control the match and find their shooting boots. Inviting football betting predictions display the Galicians at 17/4 to win both halves of action.

We fancy:

Over 1.5 goals in the second period at 11/8. Elsewhere, the both teams to score predictions offer looks quite tempting at 19/20. It would rely on some slack defending, which has certainly been evident all season.

It’s a long shot, but:

A Malaga 4-1 triumph is 325/4 in the football score predictions sector and would go against eight months of bad results and performances.
