Match Summary

1 Look out for:

Ethan Ampadu. The 17-year-old Chelsea defender was handed a role in centra midfield against Ireland and it certainly paid off. In addition to a commanding defensive performance, the young Welshman provided an impressive assist after he won the ball in the middle of the park, charging forward before feeding a perfectly-weighted through ball to Aaron Ramsey. Ampadu is 14/1 to get his first goal for the national side on Sunday.

3 It's a long shot, but…

Yussuf Poulsen to score first at 6/1. The RB Leipzig striker hasn’t made the strongest start to the domestic season, scoring just twice in seven appearances, but nonetheless remains his country’s main outlet. Poulsen’s pace will pose a threat to Ashley Williams.

One to Watch: Gareth Bale

So often the main man for his country, Gareth Bale now has the opportunity to take on the role for Real Madrid following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. With three goals in his opening four domestic games, the Welshman seems to have taken his chance to step up and has carried this form into the international fixtures, scoring a classy goal against Northern Ireland. Denmark have proven in the past to have a strong defensive foundation, and it may take more brilliance from the former Tottenham man to break them down.

The Danish FA has resolved its dispute with players over commercial image rights, meaning the first-choice squad will return on Sunday. This should see Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmichel start alongside Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen and Chelsea defender Andreas Christiansen.

Ryan Giggs is likely to pick a similar XI to the one who comprehensively beat Republic of Ireland, with Gareth Bale starting up front, supported by Aaron Ramsey in midfield.

Denmark vs Wales Betting Tips, Preview & Predictions

Will Denmark’s first string mark a return to winning ways for their country?

Ryan Giggs’ first competitive match as manager sees Wales travel to face Denmark in the UEFA Nations League. The Danes are in the midst of a dispute with their players union, meaning their first string only agreed to play on Friday!

Denmark are evens to win, with their players potentially fresher from missing a game. A combination of semi-pros and futsal players took to the field on Wednesday to represent the Scandinavians against Slovenia. Returning manager Age Hareide will, however, be able to field a full-strength team against Wales, looking to continue their impressive showing in the World Cup.

Wales are 13/5 to win and looked a team reborn under Giggs on Thursday evening. Fielding a young side, the manager looked to be making preparations for the future and given that the Nations League provides a route into Euro 2020, the former Manchester United man may have an eye on how it can help his country to qualify.

A draw is 11/4 and given that this is the first batch of friendlies after the World Cup, it’s not an unrealistic expectation. Both sets of players have only recently got back to match fitness following the close season and will have been prioritising their club form.

Christian Eriksen is 5/1 to score first, with the Tottenham Hotspur star coming up against a former Spurs favourite in Bale, not to mention Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey. The attacker midfielder has been slow off the mark this season and has yet to score for his club, but he has an even greater creative influence for his country.

Aaron Ramsey is 10/1 to score first and, like Eriksen, has far more attacking responsibility for his country than for his club. With Bale playing as a forward, Ramsey takes the No 10 position and is highly responsible for providing and feeding off the Real Madrid ace.

Predicted Score: Denmark 2 - 2 Wales
