Match Summary

1 Look out for:

Anthony Martial at 7/2 in the anytime market. The under-fire Frenchman’s problems with Mourinho have been well-documented, but he was one of a handful of players to emerge with any credit during the last gasp triumph against Newcastle. Martial scored one, made another and should start from the first whistle.

One to Watch: Alvaro Morata

The Spaniard has played second fiddle to World Cup winner Olivier Giroud but has scored in his previous two appearances. Morata has endured a difficult time in England since moving from Real Madrid but retains the backing of Sarri and has previous against Manchester United, bagging the only goal in the 1-0 triumph for the Blues in November 2017. Morata’s match-winning performance was in stark contrast to the toothless display by opposite number Romelu Lukaku, and he’s likely to be a useful option in the latter stages. The 25-year-old is 7/2 to net last and will look to Cesar Azpilicueta to provide the ammunition, with the duo linking up to devastating effect.

This Premier League preview opens with Chelsea. The Blues have made a fine start to the campaign and sit joint-top alongside champions Manchester City and Liverpool. Maurizio Sarri is expected to name the same side who convincingly beat Southampton 3-0 before the international break, with midfielder Ross Barkley impressing.

The former Everton midfielder was handed an opportunity in place of on-loan Mateo Kovacic and has seen his early season form rewarded with a place back in the England squad for the Nations League double-header against Croatia and Spain.

Former Chelsea hero Jose Mourinho brings his beleaguered troops to West London following their dramatic 3-2 win on home soil against struggling Newcastle. The Red Devils were roused by the natives to pull off an unlikely win in the closing stages.

Mourinho has struggled to settle on a first choice line-up, with Eric Bailly, Scott McTominay and Marcus Rashford all disappointing against the Geordie club. Alexis Sanchez and Juan Mata are likely to feature after their significant contributions to the eventual victory.

Chelsea vs Manchester United Betting Tips, Preview & Predictions

Will Eden Hazard light up Stamford Bridge again?

Chelsea host Manchester United in the pick of the weekend encounters. Historically, the Blues fare extremely well at Stamford Bridge against the 20-time English champions and will fancy their chances of continuing this dominant run of results. The clubs last faced off in the FA Cup Final in May, with Eden Hazard predictably the difference on the day. The Belgian leads the way in the Premier League goalscoring charts with seven goals and is thriving under the tutelage of Maurizio Sarri. Sarri, of course, took Dries Mertens’ game to the next level, helping the Dutchman go from single to double figures during their time together in Naples, and the Italian has settled remarkably to life in England.

Opposing boss Jose Mourinho is still at the helm for the Red Devils, despite intense media scrutiny surrounding his position. The Portuguese is reportedly facing a make-or-break sequence of matches and it doesn’t get much easier, with back-to-back clashes with Juventus, as well as games with Manchester City and Everton. United find themselves in eighth and, if results go against them elsewhere, could be in the bottom half of the table by the end of the weekend.

Football predictions for this mouthwatering battle highlight Chelsea at 13/20 to chalk up another three points. The Blues have won the last four home meetings between the sides in all competitions, so the smart money would be on a home success.

Further Premier League predictions show United at 17/4, in what would be a significant triumph. Mourinho would love to get one over his former club but must release the shackles of his attacking players, much in the same vein as the final 20 minutes against Newcastle.

The stalemate is 11/4 in the latest football betting predictions market and has value. In a battle of styles, Sarri will want to preserve his unbeaten league start, while Mourinho can ill-afford to lose another game.

Hazard is the 4/1 favourite to open the scoring in this Premier League preview. The red-hot Belgian has made the difference so many times when the two clubs have met, and it promises to be a long afternoon for veteran Antonio Valencia.

Compatriot Romelu Lukaku is 15/2 in the same market against his former team. Belgium’s all-time top scorer is in the spotlight and needs to prove he is worth the £75m Mourinho invested in him after some torrid displays this campaign.

Meanwhile, the both teams to score predictions offer is 4/5.

Predicted Score: Chelsea 1 - 1 Manchester United
