Match Summary

1 Look out for:

Mohamed Salah’s return. Having struggled to make an impact at Chelsea, Salah impressed at Roma before establishing himself as one of the best wingers in the league last season with Liverpool. The Egyptian will be keen to show off what the Blues are missing as he ended his mini-goal drought last weekend.

2 We fancy:

Goals galore. Sarri’s side have yet to fully grasp the transition from a back three to a back four, with Antonio Rudiger the only defender to look more comfortable in the new system. With Marcos Alonso likely operating on the left wing, there should be a lot of space for Salah to make an impact.

One to Watch: Eden Hazard

Chelsea’s recent success can largely be attributed to their Belgian wizard, and, as Manuel Pellegrini stated, stop Eden Hazard and you stop the Blues. This is, of course, far more easily said than done, and many a right-back have visited Stamford Bridge with the intention of stopping Hazard – only to leave dejected. The battle between the attacker and Trent Alexander-Arnold will certainly be worth watching on Saturday, with the full-back enjoying a stellar start to the season but tending to prefer the attacking phases to defence.

Maurizio Sarri has settled on his first team and will likely start the same XI who drew with West Ham United last week. The Italian may be tempted to field Ross Barkley over Mateo Kovacic, with the latter failing to find his shooting boots since joining the Blues.

It will be interesting to see which central midfielders Jurgen Klopp plays on Saturday, with Georginio Wijnaldum, James Milner, Naby Keita and captain Jordan Henderson all fighting for a start, not to mention new signing Fabinho. His selection will say a lot about how Liverpool intend to play against one of their biggest rivals.

Chelsea vs Liverpool Betting Tips, Preview & Predictions

Are we in store for another Mane masterclass?

It’s first vs second in the Premier League this weekend as Liverpool travel to Chelsea for a clash their nearest challengers in the league. The two sides were on equal footing until last week, when West Ham United ensured that Jurgen Klopp’s side were the only team to have won six in a row.

Chelsea are 15/8 to win on Saturday and will need their star men to be at their very best to stand a chance of doing so. Eden Hazard failed to step up against West Ham, which was a significant reason for his team’s failure to score, and doing so again would spell doom against a free-scoring Liverpool side.

The Reds are 13/10 to take three points at the Bridge, and their high press is likely to be deadly against Chelsea’s possession-based tactics. All it takes is for one of Sarri’s men to fail to play the ball in time, and one of the Reds’ three strikers will be in on goal.

A draw is 5/2, although Liverpool will be out for all three points. This will make the result unlikely as Sarri’s Chelsea haven’t shown any evidence of the ability to grind out a draw.

Olivier Giroud is 11/2 to score first and has cemented his place as Chelsea’s first-choice No 9. The World Cup winner may not offer much of a goal threat but is reliable enough and is a handful for centre-halves, unlike Alvaro Morata.

Roberto Firmino is 13/2 to score first, and his running and creativity will be a valuable tool against Chelsea’s centre-back pairing, who look far from secure.

Predicted Score: Chelsea 1 - 2 Liverpool
