In a sentence: Celtic host Hibernian at Celtic Park on Saturday, as the Bhoys continue their march towards the Scottish Premiership title.

Last time: Hibs battled back from going two goals down when the teams met in December, with strikes from Efe Ambrose and Oliver Shaw rescuing a point for Neil Lennon’s side.

This time: Celtic are 1/4 for the win, while Hibernian are 14/1 and the draw is 6/1.

You might remember: An early goal from Leigh Griffiths was enough to give Hibs their first victory in 11 attempts against Celtic just over five years ago. The Easter Road outfit have failed to win any of the eight meetings since.

Betting Tips & Predictions

Supporters will be greeted by this sight as they arrive at Celtic Park for the game

Time’s running out for the rest of the Scottish Premiership to catch Celtic, especially after the Rangers clash with Aberdeen on Wednesday night. It’s a lot closer than last season though, and a shock victory for Hibs in this one would breathe some life into the title race.

Celtic are 1/4 to secure an important victory ahead of their midweek game against Hearts. The Bhoys suffered their first defeat of the season in taking a 4-0 beating at Tynecastle in December, so the visit of Craig Levein’s side will be far from a formality. This lends added significance to the game against Hibs, but if the likes of Scott Sinclair and Tuesday’s match winner Leigh Griffiths are on song they should have too much for Lennon’s side.

Hibernian are 14/1 to record just their second win over Celtic in 20 attempts. The Edinburgh outfit are looking good in fourth at the moment, but a win over the reigning champions would be a major confidence boost as we start counting down the games to the league splitting. There will be no more distractions after they were knocked out of the Scottish Cup by Hearts at the weekend, which was the first game back after the winter break.

The draw is 6/1 and at those odds looks tempting for an outside bet, as a stalemate would be the third in a row in the league between these two. If you think we could be in for a hat-trick of 2-2 draws, the odds are a massive 33/1.

Midweek hero Griffiths is the 3/1 favourite to open the scoring in this one, while Scott Sinclair is 9/2 to break the deadlock after his penalty drew the Hoops level against Partick Thistle. For the visitors, top scorer Anthony Stokes is 16/1 to score the first or last goal of the game, and 5/1 to bag anytime.

Match Summary

Look out for:

Goals. There’s been 18 of them in the last four fixtures between these two at an average of 4.5 goals per game. An over 4.5 goals bet is priced at 4/1, while if you want to be a bit safer the odds 13/8 for over 3.5 goals.

We fancy:

Celtic to win and both teams to score at 9/4. Hibs have scored in all three of their games against the Hoops this season, so although the hosts are strong favourites for the win, Lennon’s side will still pose a threat.

It’s a long shot, but:

Sinclair to score first and Celtic to win 3-1 at 35/1. The former Swansea and Manchester City man already has 17 goals so far this season, and is the Bhoys’ top scorer. A 3-1 win to Celtic on its own is priced at 11/1.
